Your phone is on silent, you can’t find it anyway, and somehow that turns into a full-on sprint through the week’s most ridiculous headlines and the NBA playoffs. We start with real-life stuff that actually matters day to day, like why we keep our ringers off, how distractions creep into everything, and why “brain games” suddenly feel less like a joke and more like a survival plan.

Then the news hits: Spirit Airlines goes bankrupt, and we talk through what that means beyond the headline, including downsizing, reputation, and the people left holding the bag. From there we jump into a UFC drug test story with an excuse that sounds impossible to believe, plus an RCMP cocaine bust that’s as shocking as it is bizarre. We even squeeze in the pain point everyone feels, gas prices that turn a routine fill-up into a budget event.

The second half is for basketball fans searching for honest playoff talk. We break down Lakers vs OKC, Austin Reaves’ rough numbers, why turnovers are a death sentence against disciplined teams, and how depth and system basketball can overwhelm star power. We also get into the biggest debate of the postseason: whistles, consistency, foul baiting, and flopping, including why some stars seem to live at the line while others take contact with no call. We finish with James Harden’s turnover legacy, practice habits that separate great players, and our running reads on the Knicks, Spurs, Detroit, and more.

Sponsor Shoutout And Phone Habits

SPEAKER_01

Hey everybody, welcome back to You Would Think with uh Bobby D, Mikey D, and our new sponsor. What is it, Mike? W. Right here. WGG. You don't crash. A lot of gamers are using it. We're not gamers, but uh I can play the text message like the best of them.

SPEAKER_02

That's it. Yeah. I don't mind playing a game. I have an Xbox. Yeah. Oh, yeah, you do. That's right. Yeah. I'm not uh I mean I don't do a lot of I don't play a lot, that's for sure. But yeah.

SPEAKER_01

No, I play this Widoku on my phone.

SPEAKER_02

Oh yeah, I play I have that on my phone too. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I like it. I like it.

SPEAKER_02

Brain games. We're getting old. We're gonna play these brain games.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, just remember my phone is I can play it. Yeah. Oh well. What are you gonna do? Yeah. So yeah, it is what it is. All right.

SPEAKER_02

My favorite videos are those ones where it's like the guy's using his phone. There's one where they actually said it like he he calls the phone or whatever, and uh she answers and he starts talking about how he can't find his phone, and she's he's like, Well, what do you think I'm calling you from? Yeah, anyway.

SPEAKER_01

Do you like the ones where people like disco? Anybody see my glasses? Yeah, oh yeah. I have no idea. Oh, there we go. Yeah, yeah. But yeah, that's fine. You know what though? I've never had this is real, this is real. I've never ever turned the ringer on on my phones. I uh mine's always off. It's never on.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, mine's always off.

SPEAKER_01

And people go, well, what I said, listen, if it's important enough, somebody will text me.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, or leave it. And I will call you back immediately. Or leave a voice message, but I don't want to be in the middle of watching something or doing something, like, oh see, mine's work, like I'd be in the middle, I can't be in the middle of meetings and have it constantly going off, right? So I turn it off all the time, and then I forget to turn it back on. So there has been times where it's like, oh shit, I don't know where I put my phone. Clive's like, let me call it.

SPEAKER_01

I was like, it's not gonna work. I know. Same for me, that's the other problem. Uh-oh. Yeah. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So that does suck, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But you know what though? I was the only one that when I was working in Malaysia, like every other lecturer would have their phones with them, and they're like, Where's your phone? It's in the office. Yeah, locked in my cupboard. Like, what why? I don't need it. I'm teaching. Yeah, right. Like, I got all you to you know, entertain. Um you know what I'm gonna do. Hang on. Let me just check the stocks. Yeah, yeah, right. Yeah, what are we doing, right? Yeah, anyway. So uh nice spring day, Mike. Looks pretty good, you know. It's about 14 degrees roughly.

SPEAKER_02

So it was gorgeous yesterday, man. I was outside doing a bunch of stuff yesterday.

SPEAKER_01

Some of us have to work, Mike. Yeah, that's true.

SPEAKER_02

That's right. It's only yeah, that's right. It was Friday yesterday, wasn't it? That's right, yeah. No, it was a gorgeous day yesterday, though.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it was certainly nice, so it's uh certainly coming around. Now, you see what you see now on the way here? Everybody on the old motorcycles.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Get the other room, uh, motorcycles out now. Everybody's got them all shined up, ready to go, right?

SPEAKER_02

No, I've seen the uh the the convertible convertibles have been out a few times.

Spirit Airlines Goes Bankrupt

SPEAKER_01

Dude, I don't care. I've had convertibles for a long time. It's still freezing when you're driving. It doesn't matter. Even if it's 30 degrees, it's still cold when you're driving on the highway, right? Okay, so we're gonna talk other stuff before basketball, but we got a lot going on today. So uh this is interesting, Mike. I mean, we've never flown this, but Spirit Airlines went bankrupt. Yeah, they're done. And they said fuel costs, which could possibly be it. But I got some inside news though.

SPEAKER_02

I guess fuel costs would be the convenient excuse, probably, for all everything else the way it would be. It's it's like, okay, we've been just waiting for one the you know, the shoe to drop, it dropped, and we're we just can't recover, right?

SPEAKER_01

Well, not only did it drop, like people are waiting in line to get on a plane, and it's like we're it's over there, huh? There's nobody at the air, there's nobody making it. I mean, I never seen them ugly yellow. Oh, yeah, oh yeah. There's never SNL makes function. You've ever been on one ever? No. No.

SPEAKER_02

S SNL, they're like a budget airline in the States, right? Yeah, yeah. Yeah, everybody's gonna get water time.

SPEAKER_01

Well, yeah, it's a budget airline. That's how they save money because you have to pay for everything.

SPEAKER_02

I think uh on uh Colin Joe's joke was like Spirit Airlines, you know, like shut or wet went down or whatever. Mid flight. That's funny. Yeah, right. I was making fun of them.

SPEAKER_01

17,000 jobs, bro, and the first major airline in 25 years to go under. And I heard immediately Trump was like, Why am I piling? Trump Airlines. He wanted he wanted an airline before he. Oh, I know he has, yeah. Right, but here's the thing. Good luck now, because nobody's gonna fly that. Yeah, right. Yeah, those planes have just said I've if I was you, I'd just uh let it go for a while.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, right.

UFC Drug Test Excuses Get Wild

SPEAKER_01

But yeah, that I feel terrible for the people that are working there. Think of how long you worked at that airline, you know. But here's the thing, though, they've been trying to downsize, like they went from 214 to 90, and they wanted to get down to 75 airplanes, so they've been struggling for a while. Of course, right, you know. So that was that one. Now, we gotta go back to this. So, right here, you're gonna see it. You see what she looks like? Exactly. Crazy. I don't know her name and I don't care. This woman that you're looking at right here, okay, looks like steroids. Of course she does. Here's what she said she's a fighter in the UFC. I failed the drug test because my this is what she said. I failed the drug test because my husband's a bodybuilder and I took the wrong medicine. Okay. All right. Look at the size of her arms, look at the size of her chest, look at her mustache. Now, here's what I want to say. Okay. So you took a couple of his pills. What about the testosterone, the trend you've been running for about 12 years?

SPEAKER_02

Right.

SPEAKER_01

What about that? Are you you're not a fucking liar? Are you kidding me? Look at this girl. So, anyway, it's hilarious. She she literally said that. I took my okay. Well, you shouldn't suck his, you know, one.

SPEAKER_02

I can't see it. I've never I haven't seen a picture of her. So we're showing it right here for the first time. So I'll have to, yeah, it's too bad I didn't I hadn't look at this one beforehand.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, he'll put it up. But yeah, it's uh it's hilarious, actually. Oh yeah. Yeah, she's that's the best lie I think I've ever heard. My boyfriend takes steroids, and we were rushing out of the house, and I fell on his needle. Like, really? Yeah. Mike, she doesn't even look remotely clean. Right.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Well, it's always that way. When they get caught, it's always deny, deny first, right?

Cocaine Bust And Painful Gas Prices

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, denial. It's not a river in fucking Africa. All right. So, is it? Yeah, it is. Actually, okay, so RCMP, did you see this bust? My people, it's a problem. It's a problem. 248 kilos coming from the Dominican Republic. Board of Security got them down on the ports. Wrapped in Lebanese bread, Mike.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, no, I didn't see this, oh yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Michelle Marcel, Uncle Freddie. What are you guys doing, man? You're fucking up the business.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yep. What a waste of Lebanese bread, Mike. It is. Yeah, 248 kilos of cocaine from the Dominican Republic. Easy, man. Yeah. I didn't know the coke came from the Dominican, to be honest. I mean, news to me. You know. No idea, but yeah. No idea. The devil's day. No, I did not see that. So uh what's that? What's the dollar value of that? Oh, well, they always blow it up nowadays, right? Well, if gasoline's at uh 190, coke must be at how much nowadays?

SPEAKER_02

And I'm not so I filled up the car last night on the way home. Yeah, now you're bankrupt. And uh it was$75. I don't ever remember putting over$70.

SPEAKER_01

I win$76.50. Yeah. Yeah, just did the same thing. I'm like, this is just kept going, bro. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And I was watching it because lately been hitting the 60s, and I've been like, okay, yeah. And it just kept ticking up, ticking up, ticking up, going. I was like, oh man, it's gonna be 70. That's what I thought. Better not get to 80. You know, it's 75, 75, 60, and I thought, geez, man.

Enhanced Games And Open Doping

SPEAKER_01

Think of these giant trucks, bro. I know, right? Like, I got anyway. Yeah. Bananas. Okay, so we're gonna go back to once again, right here, enhanced games. Mike has already seen this. We've talked about it, but here's the best part. I went on the website. Okay, all the pictures are there of the athletes. Okay, okay. 90% of them are from Europe. Right? Never heard of them before. We got a couple of Canadians in here, some weightlifters, some other things. But get ready. Bjorn, Bjornskins, I don't know how to say his name, the huge giant freak of a man is in it.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, really?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. What are you doing? I'm assuming he's going to be doing weightlifting or lifting a fucking house.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Right? Well, here's the thing, though. Everything that he's done already, well, I mean, look, he just set a new record at 36 years old. Uh 500 and some kilos, a thousand fifty pounds.

SPEAKER_02

He slimmed down too, eh?

SPEAKER_01

Quite a bit. Yeah, slimmed down to 400 with ass. But he did, you know what I mean? Like he was, you know. That's hilarious.

SPEAKER_02

When you look at him in uh Game of Thrones and how big he was on that.

SPEAKER_01

I was looking through all the athletes, and I just kept saying to myself, it's like, well, you guys can never compete anywhere again. Yeah. Right? Because now everybody knows you're juicy.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Right? So, yeah, I don't know what's gonna happen, but I can't wait to see it. So here I got more information for everybody uh because I got an email about where is it? It's in Winchester, Nevada, May 21st to May 24th. Now, I'm assuming there's probably gonna be stuff on the internet and so forth about that.

SPEAKER_00

Sure.

SPEAKER_01

Uh, YouTube and whatever else, right? But uh I was more shocked at the amount of European fellas that are on the gear.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, right?

Lakers Vs OKC Early Takeaways

SPEAKER_01

But see, people that are in North America probably still want to participate in some things. Sure. Once you're in, it's over, right? Like, Ben Johnson, where are you? You're 60 something, come on back, bro. Win some records. Usain Bolt, have some fun. Yeah, yeah. You know, you're in your 40s, take a little TRT. Let's see if you can fucking beat the roadrunner, right? That's what I want to see. Yeah, I don't know. I'm just saying. I'm just saying. Uh, we're gonna move on to basketball after that because we got one more thing we'll talk about at the very end. All right, so I have to apologize ahead of time to our white friends. Austin Reeves, game one, shit to bed. But hang on. He was out for how long, Mike? Month? Uh came back. Yeah, maybe. But you were gonna expect him to score a score 30 some points. However, the problem I have with it is he set the all-time lowest record of all 18% for field goal percentage, which is the lowest of 35 years in the Lakers playoffs. Yeah, yeah. Austin, buddy.

SPEAKER_02

Well, he just like he he has not played well, I didn't think. He's still like three for three for 16 or something. It was it was bad, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and I mean, you know, so game one. But that's just it.

SPEAKER_02

Like, you know, like Austin is now they've they all year they've been saying he's the number two option. LeBron is the number three option. Your number two option should not be going three for thirty three for sixty, right? No problem. I didn't I get it. You just came back. He just came back. We could, but you know. But I think when they actually went back and looked at it, this is what he does against OKC. OKC had knows how to lock them up. He does not shoot well against them, right? So their defense is just too good. It forces them into tougher contested shots, and he's not. I mean, I didn't I I watched part of it, but again, it's it's on pretty late for us.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but yeah, I watched the thing. It didn't matter. He was he was out of it. But he just yeah, he was out of it. I mean, so game one, game two, played well. Game two played well. Yeah, but I mean, I didn't like the the flagrant foul on uh what's his name there from from Shea. But yeah, you know that I but at the same time I liked it because I said to you, that means you're getting under a skin, which you need to, yeah, need to bang them around a little bit, not hurt him, that's be stupid, but bump around a little bit, you know.

SPEAKER_02

Well they're they're sending doubles at him, they're saying they're gonna like they're saying let let the rest of the OKC team debate, which the rest of the OKC team is doing. They're beating them, yeah. Um like we said, like I the you know, LA might get a game.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but I mean look at every other series, we'll talk about it shortly, but every other series is the same thing, it's not a surprise. No. Now I don't care who you are, the whole thing goes down to you have the leading scorer in the NBA, 33 points a game, not playing.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Even if he was, would the Lakers be blown the other team? No, but no, now you got a game. No injuries. But I will say this that OKC team, they play their position, they're coached very well, they don't get tired, and they just keep coming. They're deep.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Every game you watch, like I don't want to go too deep on that.

SPEAKER_02

No, like go look at the bench totals. I think I think that's where you see a huge.

SPEAKER_01

It is something, but you know, on top of that, too, like game two, uh, Lakers had 21 turnovers. Can't do that against OKC. No. You want to win? Impossible, right? Um, you're only shooting 50%. You can't do that either because you're the number one shooting team in the NBA. Um every team is in it until about halfway through the third, as I told you, and then it just they just go. And every team just is like, what just happened? Like you blink, go for a P, come back, go, they're up 14. Yeah. What? Like it's Yeah, neither game has been close. No, yeah, no, and I don't expect it to be honest. They might take one. You know, they might get well, which most people do. You always get one. You want to win tonight. Like you don't want to lose.

SPEAKER_02

Well, you can't be three and oh you don't want to be three and oh, you gotta win game, your first game on your home floor.

SPEAKER_01

But well, you know what, though? Let's talk about three-no, because I hate the stupids. You know, oh, you know, three and oh, there's nobody's coming back for that. I wonder why. Do you know what math is, anybody? Do you ever heard of fucking probability? Like, so you only have to win one game and the other team has to win three. There's numbers there.

SPEAKER_00

Four.

SPEAKER_01

Sorry, thank you, Mike. Yeah, maybe I should shut up. Yeah, okay. Yeah, that's hey, that's pretty good.

SPEAKER_02

That is, but that's you know, but that is.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but I mean, that's it.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, it was so that's why they said like if you actually look, the Pistons, after being down 3-1, have now won five games in a row. Incredible. That's hard to do. That's uh really hard to do.

SPEAKER_01

Look how many teams do that during the regular season.

SPEAKER_02

OKC has won six in a row, by the way.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that's true. But they're not playing nobody's. You're playing nobody's.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, they'll they'll have a tougher time. I like, I mean, it's we everybody knew it was coming down to OKC and San Antonio, and to in and I still don't see how Minnesota's gonna beat San Antonio either. So I uh you know, so I think it's OKC, San Antonio, and now it's gonna be New York and Detroit.

SPEAKER_01

All right, hang on, you get way too far. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Let's go back to Spurs. Okay, so that game is a blow. They're up, it was over by half, they're up by 29, I think. Right? So, but I'm watching those games. Here's what I see. They're not they're not gonna they're not gonna beat them. They're not, they're not, they're too young. They don't have the playoff that OKC has. Okay, sorry.

SPEAKER_02

I was like, I thought you were talking about they're not gonna beat Minnesota.

SPEAKER_01

No, no, they're gonna beat Minnesota.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah. Yeah, they're gonna beat Minnesota.

SPEAKER_01

But I don't they they just seem like I see stupid plays, I see dumb things, they're they're not in it. I don't think that team in the playoffs can beat OKC in seven. I don't think so.

SPEAKER_02

I don't think anybody can, but that's yeah, that's okay.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I will say this. I think the Knicks are gonna beat OKC in the final.

SPEAKER_02

I'd love to see the Knicks win, and only because New York won.

SPEAKER_01

I'm up. I've sold my house, all my cars, all my watches, and a pair of Nikes.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And I'm putting it all on the Knicks to beat OKC.

SPEAKER_02

Well, New York's still gonna well, they're up 3-0 on Philly now, but they gotta they still gotta get out of the East.

SPEAKER_01

But yeah, well, speaking about that, how is New York?

SPEAKER_02

But you know New York, like, in fairness, New York has like had good teams before, and then they just don't say it. Yeah. I want to see New York all the money. All the money. I'd rather see New York win than San Antonio than Yeah, I need New York. The only other team I'd be okay winning right now, say if I'm pulling for anybody still in these playoffs, is probably Minnesota or or New York, is what I'm thinking, right?

SPEAKER_01

Well, I mean, you know, I I just think that New York has what they need. Like, but here, uh let's go back to that series for a minute. Deep, oh yeah, they sure are. So New York and Philly, how is that not the biggest rival in the history of the NBA? I mean, their their stadiums are on 85 miles a power, right? No, less than 100 miles. Yeah. Well, except when what's your name played the same Coliseum for their years uh in LA, right? Clippers had that. Yeah, I agree. Yeah, I mean, how you know you can drive to each game if you want to go watch the games, but yeah, yeah. No, New York's looking real good. That's that's pretty much over. I mean, I listen, Minnesota could could beat Okay or uh Spurs, but I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

I mean Anthony Edwards just had a really good game and they still didn't beat him.

SPEAKER_01

He did, well, he did, but he's still on limited minutes and I let him play anyway. Yeah, right. And he did have a good game.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah. But Wimby is a problem. Yeah, he's a problem. He just changes your whole yeah, he it because he just dominates in the paint so much, you're forced to be.

SPEAKER_01

I gotta go back again because when I watch an OKC game, the two clumsy white dudes that their arms are so gangly long. What the hell would you know who I'm talking about? For OKC. Well, there's Chet Hongram. That's one. There's no the other guy's name. Beard, dark hair. Can't think of his name. No. Those guys are on fire, they're causing major problems around the net.

SPEAKER_02

Chet's actually good. He is good.

SPEAKER_01

I'm impressed.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

Fouls Flops And LeBron Calls

SPEAKER_01

I'm impressed.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. But yeah, so the only the biggest thing about coming out of that Lakers thing is the uh is the roughing, right? Like, and not just go there. Go there. And not just, you know, everybody's talking about all the you know the Lakers are are complaining about the Lakers are saying if you're gonna call the fouls on one end, call it.

SPEAKER_01

Call them on the other. That's all anybody wants. That's all anybody wants. Consistency is it. I don't care if it's a bad call, give us the bad call too. We're good.

SPEAKER_02

It's it's like I was saying to you earlier, it reminds me of Shaq. It's like Shay's tiny, so he goes in, he takes even the smallest little bump, over exaggerates it. Oh, they're all doing it though. Like it's it's actually annoying. I was like, Well, they called a flop last night. Well, they shouldn't be though. They are flopping. They are flopping. You can see them. There's like there's the cameras of them kind of like oh rolling around, rolling around, and then they peek out of their eye to see if they're gonna react. And it's like they've been taught to like lay and like roll around on the ground until the referees have to like fucking do something about it.

SPEAKER_01

Watching first division soccer. Yeah. I was tired of it.

SPEAKER_02

But uh, you know, like Shay goes in and takes the tiniest little bump. I mean, they're not, you know, he's he's they're they they're recognizing his flopping and his over-exaggeration in this series, which is probably a good thing, but he's still getting. How is LeBron, who's like living in the paint and attacking the basket, not getting calls, right? Like, and that's I'll give him that. I do think that LeBron's not getting the calls, but he's never has. And when I say never has, I'm not saying he doesn't get foul calls, I'm saying the guy takes a beating the way Shaq used to take a beating. And but it's because he's so big, it doesn't look like it's affecting him as much. So they just they let it go, right?

SPEAKER_01

Which is wrong, too.

SPEAKER_02

Look at Shaman Rose. Fucking you'd see pictures of Shaq like going up to Dunk and a guy be hanging off his arm and they wouldn't call a foul.

SPEAKER_01

I just I just watched something the other day and they were talking about Shaq. Like everybody was talking about Shaq. I think it was Eudonis Haslin. I don't know where to quote this, but I think it was Eudonis Haslin going, what was your uh uh first time with Shaq? He goes, I was in a fucking car wreck. He goes, My everything hurt. Yeah, he goes after the game, I had ice on here, here, here, here, here, here. And I was like, Oh my god. He goes, That is the biggest human I have ever seen in front of me.

SPEAKER_02

I think we talked about this last week, where like these guys like Chet said, Oh, you know, like Shaq wouldn't be able to like play in this league. Like he'd get like he would dominate we would take him out with the side. That's what I think. I think he was so fast. We talked about this, nobody remembers the young Shaq. Or they don't man it's not that they don't remember him, it's that they like pay pay more attention to Shaq. Even in LA it didn't matter, right? Yeah, right. He was so good and so Kobe used to say, like, we would win, we would win every year if Shaq would just keep himself in shape. Yeah, right. And you saw like Shaq when he was young, like when he got the nickname Superman, like the guy could, you know, he could fly, man. He was he was so big. So strong, so seven foot one.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, even even Kevin Garnett made a joke when he was on the the three, and he goes, When I first saw him, it's like this. And he goes, I'm 7'1, right? Yeah, yeah. And he goes, he says, I just you don't see somebody that big that can move that fast.

SPEAKER_02

He's just a big man, right?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and he goes, Nice guy, great dude, still this day, great dude.

SPEAKER_02

They were playing against the Bulls or whatever, and he said, like, um he he hammered, he was like, I'm not getting dunked, I'm not getting on a highlight reel or a poster by Jordan. He's you know, Jordan goes in and he's like, I can see it in his eye. So I he laid him out, laid Jordan out. Then he went to help him up, and Jordan said, Never help somebody out. Good foul, big guy. And Shaq was like, you know, that was like that would that right there was like, yeah, you're gonna earn their respect by, you know, you're you're out there to win, right? Like you're gonna earn their respect by playing hard and no easy baskets, and you know, well, he must have the best field goal percentage of all time, right? No, there's other people I think that uh better? Yeah, he was dunked the field goal percentage thing is it's yeah, but it's it's the uh usage rate or whatever would be higher for Shaq. So he'd probably still, you know, in the high 50s, low sixties for a career percentage, right? Because everything was dunks, everything was nothing was like more than a lot.

SPEAKER_01

I remember him shooting all.

SPEAKER_02

But I heard they were talking about it the other day, some guy, I think for New York. Uh I can't think of his name for some reason. Anyway, fucking Philly's like doing the hack of Shaq on him, right? They're fouling him because he shoots 30 some percent from from the free throw. Oh, they're doing that? Yeah. But it's just like that's what I mean. It's it's like, how are you in the NBA if you can't shoot a free throw, right? Shoot a free throw. I get that there's other parts to it, but how like this long into this many years into your career have you not learned like even 50%, man? Like 30%? Like that's what I'm saying. But you know what, though?

SPEAKER_01

I I would like to say that for everything. Because all NBA is is just repetitive movement, just like golf and anything else. Like, why do you think the shooters are so good? Because they keep shooting. They keep shooting. Right, they have good technique and they were taught, but they keep shooting. That's why all players are good. It's called practice. When we were Alan Iverson?

SPEAKER_02

Hearing about like Larry Bird, like shooting, you know, whatever, a thousand shots. Hundreds of thousands. A thousand shots before the game. Or whatever, and it's like, well man, I guess you gotta get them up. Well, yeah, look at look at Steph. Like, do you think Steph like you know is that good of a shooter from just like no, he's it's because he actually like just practice. All the top ones.

SPEAKER_01

I just saw a thing the other day. Everybody forgets about this man, Kyrie Irving, best ball handler and probably one of the best players NBA. Nobody talks about. I think he's unreal good.

SPEAKER_02

I think he's the best finisher we've ever seen.

SPEAKER_01

I agree with that because he can finish in five different ways. Yeah, it's ridiculous. There's nothing you do. But what this guy said, he goes, uh, it was John Moran. I fucking hate John Moran, but it was when he didn't have his dreadlocks, he was young, and he goes, I was the captain or whatever, and he'd come out and hand you the ball. And the John goes, okay, he gets back, and then they hand it to Kyrene, he's like, Yeah. And he goes, Yeah. Then John went, I need to step my game up, man. What the fuck? He goes, This guy's a pro. He goes, he tested that ball in every way, shape, or form. And he goes, and that's how he also warms up. That's that's why he was so good.

SPEAKER_02

There's lots of videos out there. I'm sure more than just Steph, but like, go look. There's there's lots of times where he's at a like he'll be in an arena and he'll be out. There and he'll be you know he's dribbling around, you dribbling around, and you can see he gets to a spot where he's like oh I watched this Steph Curry underneath the dead spot on the floor. I remember that. Yeah, he's a doop doop boom, yeah. And he stopped and he goes boom, yeah, he goes right there. Yeah, and then he goes point out exactly where there's a spot on the floor where it's not the same bounce or whatever. You know, but again, that's just years of practice, years of training, right? That did that does that for you.

SPEAKER_01

All right, so where are we?

SPEAKER_02

They can't all be just gifted athletes like us, they actually have to work at their stuff.

James Harden And Turnover Trouble

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's weird, isn't it? I mean, you know. That's right. Listen, I'll be the first one to tell you how humble amount. So here's the thing. I got incredibly humble. Okay, I know you are. I know you tell me all the time. So here's my here's my question, because I didn't want to tell you this about the cards. So uh my question is um, is James Harden still in the NBA? Say that again. Is James Harden still in the NBA, sir?

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

All right, okay. Why do you ask? Well, on my million-dollar paper read here, James Harden has by far the most turnovers in the history of everything now. He has broken another record. He had 47 uh he has 47 turnovers so far in the playoffs, he leads the playoffs. But here's what people don't understand. I've been talking about James Harden's fucking turnovers for 20 years or 17 years. He is terrible. He always has been. I don't know why you guys see. Listen, he has a record. I wrote it down because I would never remember this. He has a record for like 2017 or something. Like how long ago he's been uh doing fucking shitty. Uh, here it is here. Most in the season, 464 turnovers, 2016, 2017. It's 10 years later, he's still fucking doing it. Yeah. So watch it that work on your hand, stone fingers.

SPEAKER_02

Well, that's where you see the uh you know the status test to turnover ratio is in front of Okay, wait, wait, let me say this too.

SPEAKER_01

And he can't score in the playoffs.

unknown

No.

SPEAKER_01

What the fuck, James? You're the best player in the NBA. He's never gonna have a rank. Like, seriously. You're on the floor, and I'm like, James is playing? Where? Where is he? Yeah, it's unreal. He just vanishes, bro. I don't even understand it. The only time he stood up was that one game when they were letting him shoot the threes.

SPEAKER_02

Right.

SPEAKER_01

Right?

SPEAKER_02

So this is so I so the other day, it's funny because they were talking about this the other day, because obviously he is having another shitty kind of stretch with the.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, wait, though, I want to say this. He is fourth all time in the regular season for turnovers. The only reason the other people are ahead of him is because they played way more seasons. Right. Yeah, because I think LeBron's got the most turnovers. He does. Yeah, yeah, but he's also played 75 seasons. Yeah. Right.

SPEAKER_02

But LeBron's not, I mean, LeBron's had he's had games, man, where he's had stone fingers, too, man. So here's the stat that I was gonna say. So they were talking about this the other day, and it was uh Shaq was it was not Shaq, it was Shaq was out, Draymond was on the show with Ernie, Kenny, and Chuck, and they were talking about this. Okay, and uh God, I can't remember the number. I want to say 29 gate 29 playoff games where James Harden has had more turnovers than he's had made field goals. I might have that.

SPEAKER_01

Hang on.

SPEAKER_02

I wrote down a bunch of stuff about James because I'm embarrassed.

SPEAKER_01

So anyway, so they said you know that that uh that's more he has more turnovers than field goals.

SPEAKER_02

And and and you know, and look, and Draymond kind Draymond came to his defense and said, but he's got the ball all the time. And it's like, yeah, but you still shouldn't have.

SPEAKER_01

So do other people.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah, exactly. Right. So you should you still shouldn't have the that many turnovers.

SPEAKER_01

I just told you how many turnovers a man has.

SPEAKER_02

But then I think they they they did they did Draymond dirty because they brought it up and said that I think like for a career, Draymond has 40 some games where he's had more turnovers than field goals.

SPEAKER_01

That makes sense for him, though.

SPEAKER_02

It does because he's not as he's not as volume, he's not as big of a volume shooter. So so even though James maybe had 29 games where that's uh such is the case, you know, they asked Draymond, well, what what do you expect? How many field goals do you expect uh James Harden to be taking in a game? And he said, I don't know, eight to twelve. It's like, see, you should not be having that many turnovers in a game, then, right? Like, yeah. Exactly. Yeah. So you gotta wonder what that is.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, do they have arthritis? Have their fingers all fucking you know, bent up. Like, I can understand if LeBron's hands look like his feet. So, you know, but what are we doing?

SPEAKER_02

So it's interesting because if you watch them, you know, James's turnovers are like they're careless. Yeah, he gets going downhill. 100% careless, gets out of control.

SPEAKER_01

Or these ones behind the back, and the guy reads it a mile away.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. LeBron, and LeBron's bad for this, and I I don't like I think he blames his teammates a lot, but I've heard his teammates say, like, he throws the ball where you're supposed to be. Yeah, well that's how it's supposed to be, right? And you don't get there, well then now it's a turnover for LeBron. But that's still That happens a lot, too. It happens a lot, but like you know, LeBron's gonna take some accountability for that.

SPEAKER_01

I agree, right? I'm agreeing with you. Oh, 100%. So 100%, you know, if Because you're right, like you're supposed to put it where the just like you know, good players know where the puck's going to be, great players know where the puck is, or sorry, good players will play where the puck is, great players play where the puck's going to be.

SPEAKER_02

Shooters will say, you know, one of the biggest things that they didn't you don't realize with a good passer is they'll ask you, How do you like the ball when you shoot like laces out? Do you like laces this way? That's a great how do you like it to catch it so that when you catch it, it's there and you're already in your motion and ready to shoot, right?

SPEAKER_01

I don't know what I was watching, but it had an announcer, Yao Ming, Shaq, and Allen Iverson. They're all wearing these fancy jackets. It must have been an inductee, maybe, right? Uh anyway, the question the question was to to uh Yao Ming, who was a giant fucking dude, by the way. His head is like the size of SpongeBob's head. He goes to uh uh uh Yao Ming, he goes, uh So what did you think when you saw Shaquille O'Neal for the first time? He goes, Well, when I was at the zoo, I saw a rhino, and uh when I come to the the court, I see another rhino. Yeah, yeah. And Shaq big smile on his face, right? Now, practice! Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Anyway, yeah, I don't know what fucking thing they're watching, but Shaq just sat there in the middle. I was thinking, he's so much bigger than you, Shaq. It makes no sense.

SPEAKER_02

Shaq said he had a hard time with Yao, dude.

SPEAKER_01

He's so big, but I mean he's he's robotic, you know, he couldn't move.

SPEAKER_02

He couldn't move, no, but he was Yao was talented, though.

SPEAKER_01

Listen, I don't think this it has to be uh, I mean, you can say what you want about Karim of Dilger, great player, but he couldn't move like Shaq or Will Chamberlain. He couldn't, right?

SPEAKER_02

So uh younger, younger uh Lou Alcinder not as powerful, no, not as powerful, but Lou Alcinder, like if you actually go back and watch when he was like first came into the league, he didn't pull down no backboards, bro.

SPEAKER_01

He didn't. That's what I said. He wasn't powerful, but he could move.

SPEAKER_02

He was athletic, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but backwards that man broke. They'd change changed backwards, yeah, right? Yeah, I know he was a big thing.

SPEAKER_02

Whatever it's called, the stanchion or whatever it's called, like the whole fucking apparatus came down a couple of times. Oh, yeah, like it was this one's like fuck this.

SPEAKER_01

We're just folded up, went away.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah, they had to change him because he was just so too big and strong.

Playoff Picks Knicks Talk And Injuries

SPEAKER_01

Just too big and strong. Which is shocking that nobody's ever done that before, right? But yeah. All right, so we got Heart of the Cavs. Okay, so Detroit gonna finally come back and take that series, obviously, right?

SPEAKER_02

Uh Cavs Detroit. Oh, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I mean, Detroit's looking better. I mean, I didn't realize Cade Cunningham.

SPEAKER_02

What season what's Detroit up? 2-0?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I think it's 2-0.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, they're going back to Cleveland tonight.

SPEAKER_01

Right. Yeah. But I didn't realize Cade Cunningham's been in the league for so long.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, he's been around for a bit. Four or five years. Yeah, he won rookie of the year, right?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but I was thinking, geez, it just seems like it just doesn't that long. It win me the same.

SPEAKER_02

He's been in Detroit, man. Like you know, like Detroit's a like they've been a decent team, but like, you know, that it's just only this year that they just really kind of nobody's touching the Knicks.

SPEAKER_01

I'm telling you. The Knicks are so good. Well, the Knicks are playing good right now. God, they sure are, and everybody's healthy.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I don't even know who the coach is for the Knicks. Spike Lee?

SPEAKER_02

No, it's uh Mike Brown, I think.

SPEAKER_01

Mike Brown. Well, there you go, Mike Brown. Well done.

SPEAKER_02

Is it Mike Brown? Because it was uh oh my god, I can't think of who their coach is.

SPEAKER_01

I really don't know the coaches.

SPEAKER_02

It was it was Thibodeau last year, and the problem is that Thibodeau like went he he's notorious for for playing his uh playing his players like ridiculous at minutes, right? And uh you know, did it with Derek Rose, you did it with Jimmy Butler, you know, he he he did it, uh he was doing it with uh Josh Hart last year.

SPEAKER_01

Injured, injured, injured.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so it's like uh so anyway, so Thibodeau's like a smart defensive coach, I believe, and he's oh yeah, but he'll give him that. He shortens his rotations and plays his players like really heavy minutes. So well I think it's Brown. I have to look it up.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it might be Mike Brown. Yeah, Mike Brown. I want to go back to defense, like I wrote it in big letters on my little card there in the corner. Um it'd be helpful if you played some, everybody. Yeah, like if the Lakers could play defense on OKC and figure some shit out, they might be able to get a game or two, even without Luca. But there's no there's they're chasing people everywhere. And the other thing I like about the Knicks, they make that ball for to the fucking best shot. There's no bullshit shots, like they'll keep moving it till somebody's fucking open to get a clean shot, and then you got Brunson that can bail you out if you need anytime, yeah. But it's funny.

SPEAKER_02

But he's been passing a lot too, which I really like. San Antonio's building the same way OKC is building, right? Like through the draft, young teams building the core. Yep. Uh New York built through free agency, trading away a bunch of their things. So it'll be it'd be interesting. So they did two different styles. Um, you know, and it and it's at the end of the day, oh by the way, and B played last night. Yeah, I know.

SPEAKER_01

You would have never known if you watched a game.

SPEAKER_02

But they so that's the thing, is like New York's now got some consistency in their roster. They've had it for a couple of years now. Very well. You know, like the Lakers, LeBron team, LeBron's teams have shown every year is a win now year. And so it's forces the organization into going, ah shit, this isn't working. Let's make some trades. And you get no team chemistry, no consistency, no chemistry. So then, and then you have those instances where you know Braun's like, well, you're supposed to be in this spot. That's why I threw the pass there, and you weren't there, right? And because there's no they don't know the system. Okay, see all the way down that bench. Know the system, right? And that's just it. Like the system is beating them.

SPEAKER_01

Good one for years because the system beat them, right? Correct. So correct. Yeah, then okay, it's just watching. It's like, there's no superstar. Shea's good, but he's he is what he is. Shea's but there's no other superstars on that team.

SPEAKER_02

I keep hearing it, like, I mean, everybody's saying he's gonna win the he is gonna win the MVP this year again.

SPEAKER_01

He is, and it's not right, but he is. It's fucking horse shit. It is horse shit. But you know what?

SPEAKER_02

I told you my biggest thing about Shea. Fuck him, because he's not gonna win the fucking NBA. I hate the flopping, I hate the foul baiting. He's playing within the rules, so you you know it's not his fault. You know what I'm saying?

SPEAKER_01

He has a fucking mouth on the size of a horse. He has the biggest mouth of any Canadian I've ever seen in my life. I don't mean for talking like fucking open, he's got a twice teeth we all have. No, for sure. Yeah, I'm like, what do you what's going on? I don't think I don't think he's human. That's what I'm saying. He's like an alien. Yeah, yeah. Like nobody's mouth is that big unless you're on the fucking what's what what's the what's the guy that did all the crazy shit with the uh like weird pumpkins and all the fucking Halloween stuff, stick figures.

SPEAKER_02

I have no idea what you're doing.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you you do know, and I know too. I just can't think of who it is. It's like the weirdest shit. It's like that reminds me of one of those. Oh, okay. It's like a Johnny Depp fucking thing or whatever, right? But yeah, yeah. No, no, but I saw him talking to them. Like, I actually was like this. I went, oh my god, is he human? Like, fuck, he had so many teeth. Yeah, yeah, anyway. I don't think he should win. It shouldn't be Joker, but look what happened to them, right? Yeah, no, it's uh Did you did you see the new burner thing again with fucking Anthony Edwards and what's her name? Uh Reese. Uh what's her name? Angela Reese, is that what it is?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, Angel Reese.

SPEAKER_01

Angel Reese. She comes so she goes, uh, this day and age, I'm the new joker. And Anthony Edward goes, You certainly are a joke.

unknown

No, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Like, is this real? Oh no, it's not real. Because it's so funny if it's real.

SPEAKER_02

No, it's not real, because there's ones of him and KD going back and forth that aren't real either. Oh, it's too bad because they're pretty witty, man. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

It's pretty solid stuff, but yeah, anyway. All right.

SPEAKER_02

Well, that's that angel reason. I feel bad for her because she gets made fun of a lot.

SPEAKER_01

Like, well, she brings it on herself, I guess.

SPEAKER_02

Well, she played the she, you know, embraced the villain role and it's kind of back. Didn't work too well. Yeah. Oops. Yeah, which is too bad.

SPEAKER_01

My sneakers are gonna be the new M. Yeah. No. Are you out of your mind? Yeah. Publicists sit her down.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Sit her down. Right. Anyway.

SPEAKER_02

Hey man, she's still making money, she's still doing her thing for her. She's recognized that she's got a following. She can turn that into a brand, and she's turned that brand into money, so good for her.

SPEAKER_01

Well, that's what they all have to figure out, right? Yeah. So I don't know. Uh, as for Luca, come back, like I said, yeah, there's no way. He's your star player than he is not coming back ever.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know if you saw this the other day, but they said when he first injured himself, they told him eight weeks. Well, I told you that, though. I said that's the first well, that's the first that they've acknowledged that it was. Yeah, oh yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I said there's no way we're gonna see him. He's not, he's not. If the Lakers want to win, he's just not put him back.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, but you can't. He said, he goes, he goes, uh like they were getting. He did everything he could. Went to the witch stuff. This is what we all year you play to play for. You play to play basketball at this time of year. He goes, You don't understand how frustrating it is to be sitting there watching and not be able to play, right? Look at Jason Tatum in that game seven, like sitting on that bench. He looked miserable, right?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, well, I'm speaking of that, I heard that they might be trading Jalen Brown. Well, Jalen Brown came out. Did he say something? Because he got that fine, right? He's like, Fuck it, I'm over it. Let it go.

SPEAKER_02

Well, yeah, he complained. He made something about the referees. Yeah. He complained about the referees and stuff like that. The NBA's full of floppers. Yeah, it's not just the. I told you before, I said one thing about LeBron that I that one of the one part of LeBron's legacy that I hate is that he made flopping uh popular, right? Because like he did it a lot. Like for a big guy, he flopped a lot.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know why he started doing that, because he didn't have to do it.

SPEAKER_02

Because he because he had to get because he felt like he had to start embellishing the game. He wasn't getting the call, right? But because he's such a big dude, it looks funny when he does it. It does look funny.

SPEAKER_01

It looks like a WWE move.

SPEAKER_02

I think he's been doing it for ages. WWE move. But like he he looks funny doing it because he's so big. There's no way, like when he gets hit, it's uh you know such an overdramatic reaction, like as if the like he just had his eye pulled out of his socket, right? Like, and it's that's the that's the thing. That's what when they talk about the flopping, that's what they're talking about. It's the over-exaggeration. It makes it look like it's uh it's bad. He's just trying to sell it, and it's so obvious that he's trying to sell the call, right? But yeah, it makes sense, like you said, though, he's not getting the call, you get to do something and tell us it a little bit, right?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah.

Top Listener Countries Sponsor And Wrap

SPEAKER_01

So anyway, hang on here. So uh top five. Top five, USA, Canada.

SPEAKER_02

I'm gonna guess on three and four and five, Finland, Singapore, and Mexico.

SPEAKER_01

Not bad. Not bad. Number three is Vietnam. Okay, number four is Singapore, number five, Finland.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So there you are.

SPEAKER_02

So Finland and Singapore have been there the last couple weeks.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, hanging around. I don't know what we put up there that everybody's so excited about, but uh oh, we told them how we look. So they figure it probably giants or vikings. Oh, that's right, yeah. Well, I am like you're like a little person in 34 different states. Sure. But yeah, so all right, so right here, once again, Mike, what's this called? Uh W. G G. All right. And if you go there and use this promo code, Bobby, hyphen, Mikey D for 10% off. Any and all orders forever. So me and Mike might have to take uh, yeah, we're not going across the border, Mike. We're not doing that.

SPEAKER_02

Now you get stopped at the border now.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, we're not, we're not, we're not doing that. We might get a drone to bring it over. Maybe call your buddy Bezos. He's got some shit going on. Sure, yeah, yeah. Oh. Maybe next week, because I just heard something that apparently they're trying to deflect something, so they're gonna release a whole bunch of UFO shit. They did already. Oh, they did it! Yeah, they already did it. I didn't see it, so we're gonna talk about it next week. Come back and see that. We're gonna take a look.

SPEAKER_02

They just did it like a couple of days ago, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

All right, so once again, yeah, but Buzzsproad, you can see us all. You can see it on my channel, uh, Muscle and Fiction with uh Coach Bobby. We're still always putting crazy stuff up there. And uh Spotify, pretty much it, right? Yeah. So as usual, stay bitchy bitches.
