A 29-point lead in the NBA Finals should be safe. It wasn’t. We’re breaking down one of the wildest momentum swings you’ll ever see, and we’re not letting the shot selection, clock management, or officiating debates slide.

We start on the soccer side with the World Cup, where Canada’s draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina feels like a game that should’ve been put away early. We talk chances, finishing, why certain players still come off the bench, and what the Switzerland matchup means when the group stays wide open. If you care about international soccer, rankings, and the difference between “we played well” and “we got points,” you’ll feel this part in your bones.

Then we take a sharp turn into billionaire reality: Elon Musk as a “trillionaire,” why huge wealth can be treated like it’s not real money until it’s used to secure loans, and how taxes, write-offs, and audits look from the outside. After that, it’s quick hits on the Stanley Cup Final chaos before we settle into the NBA Finals, from Wemby’s impact to the refs, flagrants, and the MVP mood swings. We also get into LeBron rumors, contract strategy, and why New York’s fan energy is its own force of nature.

If you like sports talk that’s funny, blunt, and actually cares about what happened on the floor and the ice, hit play. Subscribe, share this with a friend who argues about refs, and leave us a review with your take: did the Spurs lose it, or did the Knicks win it?

Cold Open With Dirty Jokes

SPEAKER_01

These are uh a British fella that's just quite kind. He's coming to Halifax. Uh can't think of his name right off the top of my head. Dark hair, just real dirty sometimes. Street straight shooter. Yeah, I'm sure if I heard the name, I'd know. So he always does, he opens the room up, you know, he's like kind of Matt Rife. He opens the room up and the you know, so he opens the room and he goes, uh any questions? And the guy goes, guy yells from the audience of the community, he goes, What does your girlfriend do? The community yells back, anything but anal.

SPEAKER_02

Great.

SPEAKER_01

And he goes, I'm just kidding. She loves anal. Yeah, right. That's like that's pretty funny. If you knew this guy, it's pretty funny. I was like, that's fantastic. Yeah, yeah. Right. And then he's got another one. He goes, I come home the other day, and I says, he says, I'm all excited. I got this sheet in my hand from the doctor. And he goes, I throw it on the table and say to my wife, says right there, I need daily sex. She goes, What? Give me that thing.

SPEAKER_00

She goes, it says you have dyslexia.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. He goes, What? So no more job blows?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. Oh.

So anyway, so uh it's uh we got some blue sky out there, brother. It looks pretty nice, yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

A bit of a crazy week. We had what two or three days where it was 30 something degrees. And then yesterday was 12 degrees, I think.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's nice. I like having snow on the ground. It's wonderful.

SPEAKER_02

So uh I don't think we had snow, I think, but it was cold yesterday.

SPEAKER_01

I was cold. Like I went outside with shorts on. I went, this is ridiculous. I went back in. I'm like, this is just stupid.

Canada’s World Cup Draw Breakdown

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so let's uh let's start with World Cup. So I got a lot to say about this. Boy, are we lucky. Okay, so Canada. We as in Canada's lucky. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Canada had a draw against uh Bosnia and Herzegovina. Watch the full game. We should have won that game, probably 3-0.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I think we had possession, like something like 770% of the game, right? We had possession.

SPEAKER_01

And if you don't start uh uh Kyle Lowren uh next game, the coach is an idiot.

SPEAKER_02

I assuming that's why he was doing this, like putting his fingers in his ears to like everybody. What did that mean?

SPEAKER_01

Silence? Isn't it?

SPEAKER_02

Silencing all the doubters or whatever, and like saying, like, come on, man.

SPEAKER_01

Like yeah Well, yeah, well here's the thing, though, right? Like, we'll start with that. So yeah, he scored good on him. It was a nice goal, too. Beautiful goal, beautiful goal. But you know, but oh why is he coming off the bench? Okay. If you don't follow soccer, you're gonna shut your mouth. He comes off the bench for his own team, Muppets. Okay, so he's used to that role. It's not like he's a starter. Yeah, however, we need goals, and Canada can't score, so we need six of him. So hopefully last night Elon made a call, cloned him. Yeah, that's true. And uh we'll see what happens.

SPEAKER_02

They had that, there was the one where it's a really good defensive play, but the uh the defender just like it was an open net, the defender kicked it and it hit the crossbar and came. Oh, yeah, it was so close. He either he almost put it into his own net uh by trying to save it. It was going in. And he, but what a what a great play to to stop that puck.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, the reason I'm saying, you know, that yeah, we should have right. Good play. Yeah. That's the game we needed to win. So why are we lucky, Mike? Well, because Switzerland and Qatar also drew one one. So that means the whole thing's wide open. Now, here's the thing, though. Back to zero again. I also watched that game. I'm sorry, I'm I'm I'm a straight shooter. There's no way in hell Canada's beating Switzerland. Right. I'm gonna go with six-nothing, probably. Yeah, Switzerland should have smoked Qatar. They got very unlucky. The goaltender stood on his head. Yeah, that game should have been six-nothing. Easy. But their goal was nice. So I mean, we could say the Canada.

SPEAKER_02

Canada should have won at least three. Three, four, four, four, one. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So now it's fresh slate. Oh, that goal that the Bosnian and Herzegovinian team.

SPEAKER_01

Herzegovina.

SPEAKER_02

Herzegovinian team, whatever. Never took uh geography up there where you come from. Well, no, it's just anyway. That's a weird game I hear you, man. Like that was a nice goal. Office for a doubleheader, like it means it was a nice goal.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, 100%. 100%. But uh, you know, if we're Canadian uh sports analysts, we're gonna say, well, we don't know why they were even in the game. Yeah, yeah. It shouldn't happen. It's the wind.

SPEAKER_02

That's right.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. So here's another thing, too. Like, so the uh the uh uh uh US team, everybody's been talking about, man, they smoked Paraguay. Yeah, they did 4-1, wasn't it? It could have been way more. Yeah, yeah, that that team looks pretty good. So uh, you know, we always talk about the U.S. team.

SPEAKER_02

We'll see once they get together against some.

SPEAKER_01

Well, that's the thing. You're playing okay, right. You're playing okay. U.S. is 19, right? Paragraph is like 51.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

That's what you expect, right? You know, the difference is is uh remember uh Bosnia Herzegovina, uh Herzegovina is 64th, Canada's 30th, so that we should have won that too. We should have won that. Well, yeah, but I'm telling you, Switzerland looks pretty good, man. Yeah, it's it's trouble. Oh, the biggest thing Scotland, Scotland, yeah, Scotland's back in the World Cup for the first time in like 30 years. Yeah, and they scored a goal. I watched it. I saw I saw it.

SPEAKER_02

I actually was watching it live yesterday when they scored. Yeah, it was pretty cool.

SPEAKER_01

I was like, right on, go Scotland. Yeah, they weren't even wearing kilts. No, yeah. So uh that's what I said.

SPEAKER_02

We were talking about that last week. Scotland, when when we were young, Scotland was one of the powerhouses.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

They were always they were in the World Cup year after year, right?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, couldn't play in the heat though. No, wet in my pants right here. Yeah, uh so anyway, so that was pretty good.

SPEAKER_02

So we got a cup of fever, man.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you know, we have shout out to Kyle Larry, the guy fellow who did score. So uh if you're not starting next game, I'll make a phone call. Don't worry, buddy. We got you back, we got you back.

Elon’s Trillion And Tax Reality

SPEAKER_01

So uh let me see. Oh, so the big thing, Elon Musk is now a trillionaire. Yeah, I saw that and Mike, I'm putting water in my uh body wash to stretch it out to the end of the week. I know, right? How do you get a trillion dollars? Oh, I know how you stopped making uh Teslas and I was making robots. So I can get a robot? Yeah, I I watched iRobot. It didn't turn out well, Mike. Yeah, I'm just saying, you know. Well, it really didn't turn out well, they should have beat the shit out of Will Smithers slapped them, but whatever. Good movie. Yeah, trillionaire is ridiculous, isn't it? A trillion, that's so much money. It is like when you think it like the only way I could think of it's like this when you go, like, okay, a million seconds is like two years or something. Right. And a billion seconds is like 32 years.

SPEAKER_02

Sure.

SPEAKER_01

So then what's a trillion? Like, you know what I mean? Like, what? So think of that. My I can't even think anymore. That's it. A trillion is when you look at your bank account and you put your card in, five dollar fee. Well, that's the thing about it.

SPEAKER_02

Is like it's it's it's all like there's no money in this bank.

SPEAKER_01

It's like it's the customer.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it's uh I think at the end of the day, like what did they say for you would pay for his uh his taxes? It's it's not that not uh you pay the same amount of taxes as somebody that makes like about $180,000 a year.

SPEAKER_01

Because everything's written out.

SPEAKER_02

Because everything is like business expenses.

SPEAKER_01

Well, as they said, one one year Trump paid $790 or something. What? Yeah, it's definitely different, right?

SPEAKER_02

It's uh yeah, it's pretty crazy. Businesses are taxed, what is it, once you on your profit, right? Yeah, not on your like so you don't take an operating cost. And I that's you know the argument. It's like wait a minute, you take it's why we have to be incorporated, says the lawyers. We take our our operating costs as uh you know everyday citizens into account for taxes, right? So that's always part of the argument, right? Holy smokes, right?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, he said there was some dude uh worked for Elon. He was like I don't know, like a carpenter or welder or something, right? You know, making 28 bucks an hour. And they put the money in the thing, and now he's a millionaire. Yeah, okay, I quit. Yeah, what? Hey, hang on. Yeah, yeah. Now Elon said something like uh I don't know if he was on Rogan by some on one podcast, and he was just like, he goes, I don't even own a house. He goes, I rent.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

They're like, what? He goes, yeah. He says, he goes, you know what's funny? He says, I'm gonna tell you something. And he goes, something about it, he goes, I didn't even have money to do this. He goes, the bank wouldn't give me a loan, and I had to borrow money from a friend, right? Like, what? Like, anyway.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, okay.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, like that's they they're he's hemorrhaged to hear, bro. Like that's it. You know, it's like I can't do it. Again, I think it was uh you think Zuckerberg's pissed? I don't know, maybe, yeah. Yeah, this you know in that hierarchy, like Mr. Burns.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah, right. Yeah. I think it was Trevor Noah. Go look what he talked about. Oh, yeah, I like Trevor about the about how they pay taxes, right? Like none of it is like when it comes time to paying taxes, like they say, none of it is real money, but when it got when it comes time to like going in to actually use it as leverage to get a loan, it's like, well, you're a trillionaire, we'll give you whatever kind of loan you want, right? So it's it's kind of crazy, right?

SPEAKER_01

I just heard this recently. Uh I know somebody that went up north to work as a uh as a teacher. Okay. As a teacher. And they said that if you stay 10 years, you get full pension instead of like working 30 years. Right. Or 25 or whatever it is to 55, right? And then this person said this. This is the most important thing, because uh our revenue candidate, you can suck ass. I love you, but suck ass. So my name's Jerry D. That's right. Yeah, live at 18 Smith Street. That's right. Yeah, this is a hologram. We've been using AI for months. That's right. We are not ready. Um, so this person said that because of all those tax write-offs you get when you're way up north, they got more money back than they paid in for taxes. Oh, crazy. Yeah, hang on. And for the next 10 years, they've been audited every year. Of course they have. Isn't that something? Every year. Yeah, that's crazy. Unreal, man. Yeah. I remember when when dad got audited, it was a big deal. I remember him going, I gotta audit him like, are we okay? He's like, maybe. Yeah, put this in your what? Like, what?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's why you like hold on to everything. What do they think they can go back what seven years? Something like that. I don't know. I can't remember.

SPEAKER_01

Dude, I've never kept, I don't even keep socks.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Like, you know, what happened? I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, call visa, ask the we still keep we still keep all our records of everything, just in case, right? Crazy.

SPEAKER_01

But anyway, yeah. Good on you, Elon.

SPEAKER_02

Well, yeah, yeah. I don't know if I want to say good on you.

SPEAKER_01

Well, you know, it

Stanley Cup Chaos And Goalies’ Pain

SPEAKER_01

is what it is. All right, so uh hockey, wow, go Carolina. Go Carolina, yeah. Looking pretty good. What's the game tonight? Finals.

SPEAKER_02

Game tonight could be over. It's in Vegas, right? Yep.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, well, uh John Torrenterella said something funny. He's like, you know, you're gonna go to game seven. He goes, let's put it this way. I'm leaving my clothes in the hotel.

unknown

Yeah. Right.

SPEAKER_01

What? Okay, you mean you're shitty Walmart? Yeah, yeah, yeah. All right, well, you say so. But uh the big thing is Jordan Stahl is the thing we were saying earlier there. One goal in the first five games of the cup finals. And I was thinking, well, that's in each of the first five.

SPEAKER_02

In each of the first five.

SPEAKER_01

And I was thinking to myself, that's pretty impressive. I bet you Wayne Gretzky did that. And then I looked it up, went, no, it's not Wayne Gretzky. And then I was like, who, who? John Bellivo. I had to write the year down, Mike. 1956. Oh well, yeah. Montreal Canadian, right? But I do know because uh I have a book. I actually have a I have a book that's uh 100 years of hockey. It has a little blurb on that. It says that uh in the 1956, like whatever, the Canadians won four or five in a row. Yeah, so we're the biggest dynasty in, but they did it again in the 70s, right? So yeah, but yeah, John Bellivo, wow, good, yeah, pretty impressive.

SPEAKER_02

Now it's crazy. That even the Stanley Cup's been a crazy series as well. If you want to go to the case.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, and if you want to know who that was against, it was against Detroit Red Wings. Oh, okay, yeah, back in those days.

SPEAKER_02

But yeah, the standards it's been crazy. A lot of goals, a lot of goals, but you know, not good for the goal pickers. Well, I think that's what they said. The Vegas goalie is now it has a record that he doesn't want to have and that he's allowed four goals or more in every single game of the standard. Nobody wants that, bro. No, man. Yeah, poor guy. I feel bad for him. No, it's been a high scoring series, man, that's for sure. And then you just it's been crazy, too, right? There's been no rhyme or reason to how it's been happening. This crazy.

SPEAKER_01

No, I'm sure they thought they were gonna win that game. Easy for zip, and then boop, boop, boop, boop, boom, like 36 seconds, three goals. Like, what? Yeah. Anyway, um, let's go right to game three.

NBA Finals Game 3 Turns

SPEAKER_01

So we're gonna talk game three, uh, the Spurs, then game four, then game five. All right, I know, because it all happened, and we only do this once a week. Yeah, because some of us have a job. Now, uh in game three, what was that? Well, it was an unreal win, wasn't it? Like, honestly, you know. Uh, so what was the score of that one? 115, 111. That was the game Wimby really came out, right? 32 points, right? Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Uh which again, Castle had 23 that game. Started it off as well, going this is now home or away team winning the first three games of the NBA Finals as well. Uh huh. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Well, okay.

SPEAKER_02

And then yeah, and then if you look at the series, the away team won four out of the five. Which is nuts.

SPEAKER_01

And here's something else. By winning that game, the Spurs did not lose three games in a row all year.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Well, that's why you got 60 wins, bro. But that's impressive. That's crazy.

SPEAKER_02

Listen, that's what they kept saying. The Spurs are the Spurs are that nobody expected to be here because they're young, but they're good.

SPEAKER_01

They're a year early. Yeah. They're a year early, and you know.

SPEAKER_02

They have to, you know, like a lot of those really good dynasties, good championship teams, like have to, you know, they have to like lose first and understand what is what it takes. And I think Wemby said it after the I mean, I will I guess we can go back to it after when we talk about it, but like what you know, uh, he said it's you know, the biggest lesson is that he's you know, it's a game of mistakes. Like you can't minute minimum minimal mistakes, man. That's all it takes is like just being off just a little bit in the finals, right? That's uh that's right. And against a team like New York, man, yeah, they're just gonna keep wearing you down. Anyway, game three.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, game three.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. So, however, game

Game 4 Refs And Star Treatment

SPEAKER_02

four is. Which again was like if that was the game that Trump was at. Yes. Remember, and then it was uh that's right. It's unfortunate because a lot of talk became about everything else, but they you know they stopped the the uh the fan parties that they had outside, you know, like uh we talked about this, like Jurassic Park and all that stuff because of Trump showing up and the Secret Service, and then and then they actually kept that in place, I believe, too, for security reasons, right? It's because New Yorkers are you know they're touristly known. And the North then the New Yorkers, like you know, as they seen after every single game, they kind of went nuts.

SPEAKER_01

Yep, they sure did. It's been 53 years, they've been holding it in.

SPEAKER_02

It has uh yeah, yeah, yeah. But anyway, so game three, you know, like at least uh I was actually quite surprised, you know what I mean, that uh that that the Spurs were would have won. I thought for sure New York was gonna win game three, and the Spurs would take game four, but it was the opposite, right?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, well, yeah, I mean, right. So um, what else did we know about uh that well, okay, so we'll go to game four. Well, the referee in we know has been shoddy at best.

SPEAKER_02

It's been shoddy at best, yeah. It's uh right. I mean, you could definitely see it clear as day that uh the NBA is definitely protecting Wemby, right?

SPEAKER_01

Wimby shoved what's his name to the gram with two hands.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, and they didn't want to get it.

SPEAKER_01

Brunson's like, what the fuck?

SPEAKER_02

Well, here's the thing. It's he shoved him, but the thing was is that he he did he made contact with the head. He shoved him in the back of the head, right? And then that's what they that's what they've been calling the flagrant on all along. Is uh uh uh you know uh either intentional or inintentional contact of the head, but it's still contact of the head and they didn't call it.

SPEAKER_01

But as we know, you can't throw the star out.

SPEAKER_02

No, no, because then he would have if you so if you would have got that. Oh, they would have blown them out. Well then in game four, he ended up getting another flagrant, right? So he would have been, he wouldn't even have played last night if it was uh if he would have picked up that flagrant, right? So and then same as last night. He got away with uh we got away with one, it should have been a flagrant.

SPEAKER_01

Two, yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Well, again, it's the rules. He see he stepped into we you know he stepped into his underneath him underneath him, right?

SPEAKER_01

So 17.

SPEAKER_02

It should have been an automatic flagrant, which meant he would have been if they would have won last night and it would have went to game six, he would have been out suspended, right?

SPEAKER_01

So they would have looked at it later and said, nah, it was fine. Rescended it 100%. His feet are just too big. That's it. Yeah. Uh bros shouldn't have put his foot there. That's right.

The 29-Point Comeback Autopsy

SPEAKER_01

Right. So here's the other thing. So I mean, game four.

SPEAKER_02

I went to bed at half and thought. Well, of course you did. Everybody did, Mike.

SPEAKER_01

Some of us have jobs. So it's like cricket. You have to be unemployed to watch cricket. I know, man. Right. Seven days. Uh, where are we going? Oh, yeah. Uh 29-point comeback, the biggest in the history of the world, in the history of any game in the NBA. Now, I'll say this though. That's probably the stupidest game I've seen a basketball team play in my life. Spurs. Who shoots eight threes in a row with three seconds on the shot clock? The coach, wait, you're at timeout. What do you mean?

SPEAKER_02

Three seconds. There was a lot of them that they were taking where they still had more than 10 seconds left on the top.

SPEAKER_01

No, I mean in the first three seconds or whatever. Like just chucking, you know what?

SPEAKER_02

It's not three, but you know what I'm saying. I know what you're saying. Yeah, no. They're not using any clock, they're taking ill ill-advised shots, right?

SPEAKER_01

Well, who's the coach of the spur?

SPEAKER_02

I can't remember his name.

SPEAKER_01

It doesn't matter, right? Okay, okay. Look at me. Yeah. Camera. My camera? Okay. If I did the math. If you would have just walked that ball across half, held on to it for 24 seconds, handed the ball to the referee, other team comes back, you get three stops, you would have won the game. Right. If you did that for every single play, just walk across half, hold the ball, give it to the referee, and then when they come back, get a couple stops, you would have won.

SPEAKER_02

I I feel bad for Fox because everybody keeps talking about what he did, right?

SPEAKER_01

But I It isn't Fox. He did one play in a 29-point game. The game was the game, yeah. That was one player. Leave Fox alone, come get some.

SPEAKER_02

If he wouldn't have done that, they would have won that game. No, you don't know that. No, you get that. But I get it. It was a and I, you know, I saw like uh Channel Fry and Richard Jefferson talking about this, saying that's what they say. Well, they said Darren Darren Fox on the floor is almost guaranteed to be the fastest guy out there against every single team, right? He's like the third fastest guy in the NBA. He's quick. So it's you know, in his mind, he's like, Well, I'm gonna get to the basket. Like it's how often does he actually get chased down blocks? Like he said, it's very, you know, he doesn't he couldn't even count. Like on one hand at most, he could count. Right, right. So incredible play by Anobi to just stick with it. Keep his body vertical, so everybody's like, oh, he got away with foul. No, he just fouled that. I watched it clear. The body contact is uh Fox trying to connect the like make the contact by putting his arm out, right? Like, yeah, it's um anyway, great block by Anobi.

SPEAKER_01

So, yeah, so game four. Wow.

SPEAKER_02

I know we talked about this as well that everybody kept where do you rank this as the you know, the uh you know, as far as has fi as far as top sports moments in New York history in the recency bias is everybody's going greatest, greatest uh you know, moment in sports history, Anobi's tip in, right?

SPEAKER_01

And it's kind of like that is so hard to do, by the way. Exactly. Well, it was very hard to do what he did.

SPEAKER_02

Coming full speed and just having enough to take like off that like that's why after that game, everybody, you know, we talked about this after games one and two, everybody was like, cat's the MVP if New York wins, Cats the MVP, and then after games, then it was anobi. Then it was after game four. Was Anobi's gonna be, you know, MVP because of how like how uh uh how how he had 30 some points that game, yeah. But he's been very like uh physical. Oh my god, I can't think of the word, but consistent throughout the whole thing. Like he's just putting up, he's doing the making those plays. Did you say the stroke?

SPEAKER_01

You couldn't find that word.

SPEAKER_02

No, I couldn't find that word, yeah. Uh anyway, he uh yeah, he I just thought he played a great series, right? And so it wouldn't have bothered me if he got MVP without the last night of Brunson, right?

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah, yeah. So last night, well, game five. Game five, yeah. So the biggest thing is is you know, how do you come back from just giving up 20 29 point deficit? Like you just gotta be mush. It they came out pretty good, honestly. Well, like in a you know I thought that first quarter was one of the that was horrible. Oh, it was one of the worst quarters you'll ever see.

SPEAKER_02

What was it like six minutes left? Like six minutes in, it was like 13-8. Well, I don't even know if it was that high. It was like I think the Knicks were one for ten and we're only down by two or three points. 16 blocks first five minutes. Yeah, yeah, it was nuts. It was nuts. What's going on here? Yeah, and it was only five at halftime. Yeah, yeah, it was pretty bad. Who said it? I can't remember who said it the other day where they said if New York goes into the fourth quarter down anywhere, down 14, that's almost where they want you. Because that's how they play, right? Chip away, chip away. Yeah, let's play from behind.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, they get good defense when they want to play it, so but holy.

SPEAKER_02

And what did Brunson say? When they they everybody keeps asking them, what's wrong with your first quarter? What and he said he goes, it's like he goes, it's like we show up 30 minutes late to every game.

SPEAKER_01

It's unreal. Yeah, because other people would have buried you to know. Yeah, but how do you come back? How do you even come back from 29? That's so game four, yeah, again, is crazy. What in the hell, man? Like there's so it's such a point, like it's not just 29 points either. It's like the difference you have to stop them for 14.

SPEAKER_02

San Antonio scored 72 points in the first half of game four and 30 in the second. Yeah, that's bananas, isn't it?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that is bananas. Crazy. Yeah, right. So like Brunson said, the game starts at nine, we should up at 10. Yeah. At least the one piss off. Yeah. So that's it. So they lost.

SPEAKER_02

So that's it. They were down by you know 20. They were down by 29, so they outscored them by 30 points in the second half, right? That's bananas. Like end of the second quarter. I think they had a little run at the end of the second quarter.

SPEAKER_01

What else did it say about that one?

SPEAKER_02

It said uh we're back to game four already because it was such a crazy game.

SPEAKER_01

It was crazy, yeah, yeah. Uh largest halftime comeback ever. Yeah. Uh second finals with multiple games decided by a single point. That never happens, apparently. Uh, yeah, that's what that's what we have. But that's that's I mean, what are you gonna do?

SPEAKER_02

Well, that's and that's what I was saying earlier. It's uh you know, like, was it the greatest sports moment? Imagine if the Knicks didn't win, though. It would not have been even in the top ten. Like, if that you know what I mean?

SPEAKER_01

Like Dude, I saw that list. They showed a list of greatest uh or longest street clubs like 180. Years. Yeah. Steve Bartman will never forget you.

SPEAKER_02

I know you're hiding in Tennessee working at a strip club, probably, bro. Well, how long has it been for the Maple Leaves have been the same? Like, isn't it?

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I didn't even see the Maple Leafs that hasn't been 50 years then. Because this one started at 53 and I didn't see the Maple Leafs.

SPEAKER_02

But I I might, you know, I could have missed it. I thought the, you know, what's the the 50 mission cap song? What's what year is that that the last time the leaves won? Oh, I don't know. It could have been there. I just looked for I wanted to see the biggest one. And then I saw, oh, sorry, and then it went off the screen. No, the Leafs haven't won in a long time either. So Ronal fans can relate. Tirana. Good old Tirana. That's the other thing about the NBA. This is eight years now in a row, eight different champions. Oh, yeah, look at that.

Game 5 Closeout And Brunson’s Statement

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So they haven't had a lot of people. So all those people say, okay, and not just like, you know, one team winning one year, and then maybe two years later winning. It's like a different team every year for eight years. It's been pretty crazy, right? So that's what you want, though. That's what you want with competition, right? It's not guaranteed every year.

SPEAKER_01

Now everybody's gonna go get pieces going. Okay, well, what did the Knicks do to beat Wimby? Well, you don't have a cat. Good luck.

SPEAKER_02

So, like, I'll tell you, like, in all honesty, I actually enjoyed this more than watching Golden State play Cleveland every single year in the final. Oh, this was a good series, right? Yeah, uh, well, just I mean, the last few years, just seeing better. It's uh you know, it's it's every team has a chance going in every year, right? Back then everybody knew it's gonna be Golden State in Cleveland. Well, I shouldn't say about Cleveland, Cleveland should not have been there like a couple years, but yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, oh, I saw a thing that says Golden State Warriors are legitimately looking at LeBron. And they have the money to pay him.

SPEAKER_02

So uh well, it's funny because I well, here's what I saw. I saw uh the rich Rich Paul was on uh Pat McAfee's.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, Rich Paul, here we go.

SPEAKER_02

And they were talking to him, and and Pat McAfee said, like, hey, give it to us. And Rich Paul said, Don't believe a thing you've said. He goes, because I can tell you with 100% honesty, I haven't even talked to LeBron about it. I told him when you're ready, you come talk to me. It's gotta be, but any numbers that are coming out there, he goes, are all just people that know how the process works and knows how the team's thought process works, knows how this is, and so they're just throwing things out there, but nobody actually knows.

SPEAKER_01

Well, this one didn't have any numbers, it just said they they can fit them in, they have the money, they're looking at them. He so whether or not that's true, we don't know.

SPEAKER_02

Because uh, one of the things I saw they were saying, Oh, he's gonna be looking for a max, and then they were starting to shit on him for looking for a max because he's you know, like, yeah, well, the max 3.4. You know, if you do that, you really handcuff a team or whatever, right? But it's um uh and so then they said, well, Golden State can't pay him max, I don't think, right? So who where's he gonna go if he wants max? Lakers won't pay him max. There's no way if the Lakers pay him max, there's something wrong with the Lakers, right? Or it's gonna be a similar, like a clipper's backhand deal somewhere in there. Right. They're gonna pay him like 20 million and he's gonna make another 30-some million. Listen to

LeBron Rumors And Contract Gamesmanship

SPEAKER_02

this somewhere else.

SPEAKER_01

So, do you know the story about Shoe Otani in the in the LA, what he did? So he's got the biggest contract in the history of anything, 270 million. But he only gets paid two million a year to like 2030 something, so that they they could build a team around him. Oh, so he finally is a real good guy, is what he is. So he backended his contract. Right, because he's like, Well, if you take all this money, we'll never win anything because they can't afford anybody else. So he's like, I'll tell you what, I don't need to live in the high life. Two million's a lot of money. Yeah, you know, yeah, I got how many girlfriends and a wife?

SPEAKER_02

So you you remember back, so this is the one thing when you they saw it in the they talked about it in the last dance that uh when the NBA used to do those crazy deals as well. Right. Like these guys are willing, well, I'm gonna get my money now. And like, and then they missed out on a lot of money down the road because they thought these long-term deals at the time were the way to go. And it's like all of a sudden now you're like making three million a year, four million a year, and everybody else around you're making $50 million. $20, right? Like yeah, like Pippin Pippen did it for financial. Well, he had to to support his family and he had a bad knee. So he so he did that, and anyway, it turned out to be like a bad contract, right?

SPEAKER_01

It was, but like you said, he's what are you gonna do? I need the money. Support support the family.

SPEAKER_02

That's hard at the time, right? To be like, hey, listen, I can give you a you know, whatever, a 10-year, $100 million contract, right? And you're like $100 million?

SPEAKER_01

How much money?

SPEAKER_02

Holy cow. Now these guys are signing like four-year, $20, $50 million contracts.

SPEAKER_01

Uh also, too, I wasn't Brunson and Luke on the same team for a while.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, Brunson and did Brunson get drafted. I don't know if he got drafted by the Mavs, but yeah, he was with the Mavs.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's like what you guys could make that work, huh?

SPEAKER_02

Well, he was young, right? He was young, but the thing is, Luca needs the ball, like it's you know. Uh so the other thing is, you know, like the 53 years, but now you had uh Josh Hart, Mikhail Bridges, and Brunson who played together in uh Nova and won in Nova, right?

SPEAKER_01

That's pretty cool.

SPEAKER_02

Pretty cool.

SPEAKER_01

So they mean he was crying, man. He had his Tyler's head there. It's pretty pretty emotional.

SPEAKER_02

It's pretty emotional.

SPEAKER_01

Well, it's 45 points. See, the only other person to do that's Jordan, is it not?

SPEAKER_02

Uh no, Jordan, who'd they they gave a list? Somebody else, oh, somebody else. There's four players that have done it. That have scored 45 in a closeout game. Jordan's one of them, yeah. Probably awesome. I can't Bob Pettit, I think, was one, and I can't remember who the other one was. Exactly. I think wow. Pretty crazy, right?

SPEAKER_01

Pretty crazy. Yeah, but if it wasn't for him, they wouldn't have won.

SPEAKER_02

But I mean, all year, like not all year, like you know, since he got to New York, and then New York would like make it to the you know, Eastern Conference Finals or you know, the same. Okay, here's the thing. And then they get beat, and then he kept saying Pacers beat. Hold on, hold on. Okay, and then he said a short guy like that will never be the guy that's gonna win you a championship. You can't bank on a Stephen A. No, like a lot of people saying, like he's like too small to be the leader.

unknown

Uh something like that.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah. So anyway, so that was where he took a lot of shit, like for being like they kept saying, like, a small guy's never gonna be, if he's gonna be your leader, you're never gonna be able to win, like, with a with a with a small player being your best player. But Steph Curry did it. I don't know why they don't give him, but Steph Curry had Clay and Draven on, and you know, they had Kevin Durant at one point, right? So Kevin just goes through and get a ring. So Brunson last night was probably like I saw when he went in for his interview, they he said, Should I, what did he say? He goes, Should I be nice or should I talk my shit? Oh, because it's probably like he probably wanted to go up there and be like, Man, you guys are saying I couldn't do it. I couldn't be able to do that. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Well, that'll come out now on all the podcasts. You wait to see. Right. It'll be interesting on the podcast. And he goes, I fucking told you so. Remember when LeBron won in the bubble?

SPEAKER_02

What would what did he yell at? Put some respect on my motherfucking name. Like Brunson should have said the same thing last night.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, he should have.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But what I was gonna say was everybody's, well, you know, the the Knicks shouldn't beat them. Well, hang on. They went that year to the Pacers with all those bad injuries. That's what they did. Then the Pacers beat them, okay, and then they got a crumple pieces, and now look what you're looking at. Yeah, that's how it works. It is OKC, and I told you earlier they were not gonna come out of the West. I already said that anyway. So, and I picked, I looked back. I said six. I picked it and fought. Oh, yeah. Guess what, Mike? I didn't put any money on that. Nah, too bad, yeah. Not in a fucking red sense.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah, that's too bad.

SPEAKER_01

Thanks, Shaniqua. Yeah, forgot to take it out that day instead of your butt. Were this originals?

unknown

Right. Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Well, right now, Mike, I'd be pulling up in a G-Wagon. That's right. Yeah. Right. Instead of my Aspen 1973 station wagon.

SPEAKER_02

But that's so, I mean, that's the Spurs, like, all credit to them.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, they played it, you know, they played what they what they had.

SPEAKER_02

Their coach said, and it was just remember if you if you remember the the Cleveland series, the coach that Kenny Atkinson said something weird about like if you look at the analytics, we actually are outscoring or whatever. We actually won. Yeah, we actually won. It's like, no, you didn't. And so anyway, so he came out the other day and he said, I don't want to take anything away from New York. He goes, but like this is the the San Antonio coach. But we feel like we've decided the outcome of every single one of these games.

SPEAKER_01

Well, you have you lost it every single time. Yeah, but see, that's the thing.

SPEAKER_02

It's like then they said, so this is what the count for that was, is that but what you're doing is, and and Kenny Atkinson did it in Cleveland as well. You're you're not you're you're kind of giving yourself that credit or whatever, but what you're not taking into account is that's just New York. That's how they've won all year. Like they are just that scrappy team that never quits. And so it's like you say you decided the outcome, it's because everybody kept saying, Well, did San Antonio lose that game or did New York win it? Right, and that everybody's like, Well, it has to be San Antonio lost. But does it though? Because like the 29th if it was only a one-off thing, yeah. But New York's done it multiple times.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, well, that's why I told you I got mad when they kept talking about comebacks. 25% of the games in the NBA are 15 or more points. Because we can chuck. Yeah, we can chuck. Right? Right. So, and it's a streak.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, now it's watch the games.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, I'm surprised that those series were so tight.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I mean, that 29 we get on here. Well, look at the end score. No, everybody went to bed at halftime, man. Yeah, that toy.

SPEAKER_02

Every single person at the time I didn't even tape it. Like, I didn't even tape the second half. I was like, what's the point, right?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. I mean, but uh however, once again though, last night did the same thing. You know, record and then stops with the last six minutes. So do you not did I but oh yeah, I recorded every other thing. Don't you worry. I mean, I put two things afterwards, yeah. Paint so did I sports and inside the NBA afterwards, and then sports. I got it, you can read up to the next thing.

SPEAKER_02

And it's funny because it's it's like it shouldn't do that. But the inside the NBA section that was like the half an hour afterwards, there were still like seven minutes left in the game when it cut off.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and you know why? Because if you look, the game doesn't start to about 16 minutes in with all the garbage. Yeah. So I'm like, well, then add it. You've got to add that to it, right? So I get it.

SPEAKER_02

You know, they if the game goes over early, well then that's what that's what you have all these post-game shows for, right? Like just keep it going.

SPEAKER_01

When I was in Malaysia, that never happened with the whoever I was using over there, it just got right on.

SPEAKER_02

Didn't have to do that.

SPEAKER_01

Here it got burned me how many times? And then it's like meh to set it up. So yeah.

SPEAKER_02

No, I know when I taped it last night. I I I I went, I'm not just taping the extra half an hour, I'm taping the hour after that. Oh, I did both shows.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, same, just in case. And I was like, well, we didn't have to, really. Yeah, but can you imagine if that game was in New York? Oh, that would have been nuts. Be on fire.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, well, look at how crazy. So they they were saying outside in the whatchacall there, yeah. In game four, like the building, you could feel it rumbling. It was so loud. That's nuts, right? Yeah. So you know, it's uh it'd be interesting to see like the what do they call it, the like the decibel meter inside the building of how loud it actually got, like in game four.

New York Fandom And Cost Of Living

SPEAKER_01

Well, I don't know about you, but the only thing that shocked me is the age of Jerry Seinfeld's girlfriend. Yeah, she wasn't in her teens. I don't know if you noticed. That's his wife, that's been his wife for a while. Ah, whatever. Don't care. I'm talking about his girlfriend, not his wife. His wife's like 50. I'm talking about this woman.

unknown

Right there.

SPEAKER_01

Sorry, Jerry. Sorry in the back there, buddy.

SPEAKER_02

Um anyways. But yeah, no, I was saying I I saw a video last night of somebody who was up one of the high rises, and it wasn't like of all the people in the streets, it was just basically like you know, scanning across the skylight, just across New York, with just the noise, like how loud a collective screaming from New York at like when that final buzzer sound was just crazy, right?

SPEAKER_01

Well, how many people in New York? Oh my god, way too many. There's not enough room. Yeah, so it's actually people are leaving because of that man doney guy. Some are, yeah. Millions and millions of people. It's ridiculous. Yeah. And the price of stuff is foolish, mm-hmm. It's ridiculous, right? Yeah.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Like a one uh uh not sorry, not a one bedroom, but like a uh bachelor's like five grand.

SPEAKER_02

But like, so like but but in all honesty, the the population of New York is more than isn't it more than the population of Canada as a whole? Oh, probably. Like I don't know the exact number, but we'll put it right here if we can find it. Yeah. Do you hear what job you're gonna pay to do? So that's what I mean. Like, you know, and uh you you're you're you know, you're talking millions of people because you know too, for a city like that who's been New York and the like the Knicks and the Yankees are your teams, right?

SPEAKER_01

Like that is your I mean if you're a Mets fan, people aren't talking to you. No, no, and then even hockey fan.

SPEAKER_02

If you're a Jets fan, just hockey fans, but it's hockey's not got doesn't have the same following at the end of the year. Yeah, the New York Islanders. I mean, they were good for the Giants, people they like the Giants, they like it's okay, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

The Bears. Yeah, right. Yeah, nobody talks about the Jets, nobody talks about the right, nobody talks about the Jets. The Mets, yeah. Nobody talks about the Mets. Yeah, you know, uh Billy Crystal's a Mets fan. I was just gonna say there's one, yeah. I was trying to pull it up, it's Billy Crystal. Yeah, yeah. I was gonna say uh who's the other guy, the germophobe, but it wasn't not him. Uh Howymando. How you Mando. Not him. Dude, speaking of that, so I think Billy Crystal's a Mets fan. I'm pretty sure, 100%.

SPEAKER_02

I can't remember. Oh, wait, wait. Because Billy Crystal's all isn't he?

SPEAKER_01

He's a Warriors or uh Warriors fan.

SPEAKER_02

Clippers? Clippers, I'm pretty sure. Yeah. So maybe he's not, maybe not. Wait a minute. We'll have to look it up.

SPEAKER_01

We're gonna have to look that up too, possibly. We don't have that kind of thing.

SPEAKER_02

Maybe it's uh no, it's not uh no. I think you're right. I think it's Billy Crystal. Maybe I want to go with Billy Crystal. Me too, I want to go with Billy Crystal. I can't believe he's still alive, but anyway.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, uh shit. What was I gonna say before that? Uh oh well, gone. Yeah, that's what happens when you get old. No, it's what happens when he talks. No, it's both. I'm not blaming Mike ever. Uh no, it's something actually important, right? New York, what are we talking about?

SPEAKER_02

We were talking about the you know, like a help us asshole.

SPEAKER_01

We pay you.

SPEAKER_02

Well, we were talking about like sports fans and and and how dedicated they are to their teams, right? And of course, like as a the collective New York Knicks is it is a team that that whole city will rally around, right? Like, so no wonder you would have had a lot of people.

SPEAKER_01

I'm trying to think of the last time any New York team other than the Yankees has won anything.

SPEAKER_02

Uh well Manning and the Giants won, right?

SPEAKER_01

Oh, but how long ago was that?

SPEAKER_02

Uh I don't know, sometime in the 2000s here. So what I was thinking Islanders in the 80s. Islanders in the 80s, but the the Rangers won, not like a you know, like whatever, within the last probably 15 years, I think.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, well, they love their hockey there. I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

No, they're not not. That's what I was saying earlier. Not like the basketball and not like the not like um but then the Giants won, right? With uh Manning.

SPEAKER_01

For a couple, yeah. Eli. Yeah, yeah, not Peyton. Not Peyton. Younger brother, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Younger brother. So they've won, but yeah, but again, like the Yankees coming up. When did the Yankees win? Because they they've all won, haven't they won? Yeah, that's like well. That's what I mean the last time, right? So but anyway, the Knicks have not won in 53 years, so it doesn't matter. Like that at the end of the day, the Knicks have been beat that curse, a New York sporting uh, you know, favorite for a year. So well, and that team's pretty good, man.

SPEAKER_01

That team's pretty good.

SPEAKER_02

I think they asked Spikely there, like, what does this feel like, you know? And he's he said, Well, I was still alive the last time we won. He goes, I'm old. He said, '70s, right? But it was, yeah. It's uh what is it seventy-three was the last time they won? That's crazy. Yeah, Spikely. I wasn't born yet.

SPEAKER_01

A lot of people weren't sure. Don't even start. Shut up. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So are you 20 years old then?

SPEAKER_01

25.

Wrap-Up Jokes And Where To Watch

SPEAKER_01

Uh I got a funny joke, and then we'll wrap it up. So uh I got a couple of funny jokes. None of these are mine. Uh these are uh a British fella that's just quite kind. He's coming to Halifax. Uh can't think of his name right off the top of my head. Dark hair, just real dirty sometimes, like a straight straight shooter. Yeah, I'm sure if I heard the name, I'd know. So he always does, he opens the room up, you know, he's like kind of Matt Rife. He opens the room up and the, you know, so he opens the room and he goes, uh, any questions? And the guy goes, guy yells from the audience of the community, he goes, What does your girlfriend do? The community yells back, anything but anal. Great. He goes, I'm just kidding. She loves anal. Yeah, right. That's like, that's pretty funny. If you knew this guy, it's pretty funny. I was like, that's fantastic.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah. Oh. Yeah. Yeah. Anyway. All right, everybody. So as usual, you can watch us on Spotify. He laughed. I thought it was funny as hell, too. Buzz, Buzzfroat, Spotify, my own channel, uh, with uh coach Bobby, Muslim Fiction. I I laugh real hard, I'm telling you. So uh right here, Mike, is our sponsor, Wonsor, and right here goes along with it our code for 10% off, which is uh Mikey hyphen, Bobby D, 10% all orders, order up. Uh maybe not sent to the US yet, but still having problems with that. I know that. Anyway, is what it is. So uh as usual, stay bitchy bitches.
