You can feel it when sports flips from “game” to “argument” and we hit that switch a few times here. We start with the World Cup, where Canada’s run has us fired up, breaking down what we saw against Switzerland, what a physical match does to a team, and why Canada vs South Africa feels like the kind of game that makes fans nervous even when the rankings say you should be fine. Along the way we get into stadium atmosphere, North American venue size, and why some host cities look loud while others look weirdly empty.

Then we step into one of the biggest modern sports questions: when coaches prioritize rest, who’s paying the price? Sitting stars might be smart for performance, but it hits different when you bought the ticket to see the striker, the superstar, the face of the tournament, and he never gets off the bench. We also talk about why this World Cup feels like it has more scoring and more mistakes, plus the Messi and Ronaldo storyline everyone keeps chasing.

From there it’s a sharp turn into culture and controversy with the MLB Pride hat debate, where we try to separate support from forced compliance and ask what “choice” should look like in pro sports. The back half is pure NBA offseason therapy: Austin Reaves’ record undrafted payday, Lakers roster chatter, draft names and draft history, the LaMelo Ball trade fit question, and the never-ending swirl around LeBron James and Nikola Jokic. And yes, we even end up on global headlines like the Strait of Hormuz and a tech rabbit hole about affordable humanoid robots that can do kung fu, which is exactly as unsettling as it sounds.

If you like sports talk that’s honest, curious, and willing to chase the weird headlines too, hit subscribe, share the show with a friend, and leave a review. What topic do you want us to dig into next?

Cold Open And Quick Banter

SPEAKER_00

Hey everybody, welcome back to what wait a minute. We're starting.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. It's like Ron Burgundy. Green never gone on the cue card.

SPEAKER_00

What if the cue card said, take pants off and all right? That's tomorrow's podcast. Okay, everybody. We're so excited that Canada's gonna play in the World Cup today against our favorite South Africans that we forgot what we were doing. So it's uh Bobby and Mikey D on You Would Think and uh Hurrah. That's great, but Rob Burgy was so funny. Oh, read whatever's on there. Oh god, it was too funny.

SPEAKER_01

Stay classy, San Diego. No, fuck you, San Diego.

SPEAKER_00

San Diego, whatever it was. That's a killer. Those movies are killer. The bloopers are even funnier. They bloopers. Behind the scenes, just unreal. Good movies. Yeah,

Canada’s World Cup Form Check

SPEAKER_00

good movies. All right, so we're gonna go World Cup. So, first of all, obviously, we we played Switzerland. Uh, and I I you know I told you ahead of time it's that's a good team. But uh dirty game. Whew, dirty game.

SPEAKER_01

Well, they were expected to win the group, and they did, right?

SPEAKER_00

They didn't, but uh there was a lot of stupid fouls in there. Uh actually on both sides. Both sides. Actually, this is even shocking. Canada had more yellow cards in Switzerland that game, but both teams had a lot of fouls. It was pretty pretty dirty.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, hey man, I like I actually uh two one's not a bad showing.

SPEAKER_00

No, yeah, yeah. I told you when I watched them play guitar, I was like, oh boy, they're gonna smoke a six now.

SPEAKER_01

Speaking of guitar, that guy got five games, eh?

SPEAKER_00

For the leg break?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Five games.

SPEAKER_01

Five game suspension, yeah. That team's a little harsh. I I uh yeah, I mean it's uh I mean it could clearly it wasn't on purpose, but it was a horrible tackle, right?

SPEAKER_00

Horrible tackle. I mean, you can never tackle from the back, right? But still. Yeah. I mean, nine times out of ten, that leg doesn't break. Except when you turn it, right? Five games.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I didn't read that. That sucks. Well, are they in the no, I don't think so. So what's that mean? For the next three years he can't play?

SPEAKER_01

Probably, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Yeah. Well, the worst part is when he goes home, somebody can kill him. That's another thing, right? Yeek. You know what those teams are like. Uh anyway, that's why Mexico gotta win it. He can't go home. Iran, Iraq.

SPEAKER_01

Man, they showed a video of the uh the Mexican, the stadium in Mexico there where the bananas have.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, dude, so crazy. Yeah. So crazy. Oh, clearly, all cartel. But yeah, yeah. Well, if you didn't know the CIA, it's like, I have free tickets. They're like, hey, look.

SPEAKER_01

It's been interesting because I saw uh like you know, people, you know, of course they're they're you know, uh they're promoting, hey, come to our city. Every look at all the nice things people are saying about a city. So of course about well, just everywhere, like in New Mexico, in the US. Yeah, yeah. But uh one of the ones was uh a British fella like apologizing to Americans saying, I'm sorry, nope. Your stadiums are nice, and they're bigger than we thought. Like, you know, they're nice. They're coming from Europe. These stadiums are tiny.

SPEAKER_00

Oh no, no, no, bro. Bro, okay. Go to the Rose Bowl in California, it holds a hundred and some thousand people.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Huh?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Any top division one football stadium that stadium in Toronto is the smallest one probably in the World Cup. And it it's like 40 some thousand. Yeah, Skydome, whatever the hell is it. No, it's uh something park. I can't remember the name of it. I can't remember the name. All right, yeah. Anyway, it's uh uh anyway, it's a smaller, it's a smaller uh stadium that they were playing in.

SPEAKER_00

So so yeah, good on you, UK. Yeah. For apologizing. Seriously right now, get out of our country, go eat some fish.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, you gotta fucking figure those NFL stadiums, that's where they're playing.

SPEAKER_00

Like oh yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Even the college stadiums down there are ridiculous, right? The amount of money that's into those things, right? So yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Huge.

Stadium Size Shock And Betting Talk

SPEAKER_00

All right, hang on now. Okay, so Canada's gonna be a good one. Yeah, now Canada's playing South Africa, uh, 60th. Canada's ranked 26th, so we should win that game. Uh shout out to my buddy Herschel, who's from South Africa, who wrote me about we can't say what he wrote, but uh we can say that he he thinks that we're gonna win, and I think that he's gonna win, so it's gonna be some interesting betting.

SPEAKER_01

Well, we'll see. So we'll see.

SPEAKER_00

But uh I listen, in all honesty, right, go Canada, but you know, if we're gonna bet, you gotta bet South Africa. So, yeah, because that's where the money is, right? Oh, sure. Right, right, right. So, okay, so now here's the other

Resting Stars And Fan Frustration

SPEAKER_00

thing. Like, so I was watching a Norway game, and I'm like, where's the Viking? Where's where's where's our striker? Norway set the whole team in the vibe. It's great. I'm like, I don't recognize anybody, right? And I went, can you do that? Where the hell they get all those places.

SPEAKER_01

Well, if they're already if their positions are already set, what does it matter, right?

SPEAKER_00

Well, listen, this is the big thing, and this is what like the Viking, I don't even know how to say his name, but anyway.

SPEAKER_01

I know who you're talking about. Everybody knows what I'm talking about, right?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, so they the coach goes, I prioritize rest. And he's like, Okay, so that's a big deal. He's right. So rest is a big deal.

SPEAKER_01

So well, that's what we got our captain coming back today.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, right.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. So missed all three. Uh that's it.

SPEAKER_00

Should be interesting to see what happens with that.

SPEAKER_01

Qualifying games, right?

SPEAKER_00

So But uh my thing was is like, what if you bought tickets to that game?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And you you know, you want to see one of the world's best strikers in this giant man and he's on the sidelines, and like, bro, come on.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's the age-old argument, right? Like the same thing in the NBA.

SPEAKER_00

When you're gonna be able to do it, I've never seen a whole team sit like this at the whole and they could have won that game. It wasn't even that bad, really. Yeah, well, France ran him over, but still it could for you know.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, France looks pretty good.

SPEAKER_00

They do, yeah, they're a problem. Yeah, that had Bat Bay so fast. Like you think you're with them, and he just runs right by.

Goal Surge And Messi Talk

SPEAKER_00

Right. So here's the thing I was noticing, I was like, there's gotta be a lot more goals this year. So I did some research. There is right. So in 2022, they had 172 goals over 64 games in the first piece. This year it already has 177 over 59 games, right? So a lot a lot more goals, which to me either proves offense is better or defense is terrible. Now, I will tell you this, it's been a lot of own goals and a lot of goalkeeper mistakes.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I saw I've seen a lot of a lot.

SPEAKER_00

So, you know, it is what it is, right? But uh, you know there's a listen, there's been a lot of goals, like honestly, like a lot of goals.

SPEAKER_01

Messi's leading right now, right? With seven.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. He didn't even play yesterday.

SPEAKER_01

I know, it's crazy.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, they sat him, so there's another problem. So they're sitting here. Ronaldo can't score.

SPEAKER_01

So that's the is that a that's is that a matchup? No, that's not a matchup. I don't know. I don't think I think that's what they were talking about, is that they the way it's set up now is that there's not even a potential matchup between them, which everybody wanted to see, right?

SPEAKER_00

No, I mean I was gonna look at the matchups and read them off today, but I'm not gonna. No, it's just so many, nobody cares. I don't care. No, right, nobody cares. Who Kevin? Who are you playing in Cape Brighton? Yeah, yeah. Anyway, so all in all, I mean, it's been pretty good. The stadiums look pretty full, but you're right, that Mexico one was pretty crazy, it was so loud.

SPEAKER_01

Well, the Mexico one was pretty crazy. I didn't see there's some of the some of those, some of those stadiums, there's some of the matches that actually look pretty, pretty dead, which is kind of sad for those cities that are hosting those matches, right?

SPEAKER_00

But well, I mean, you know, you know, oligona can fit inside one of them. Right.

MLB Pride Hat Argument

SPEAKER_00

Now, uh, we talked last week briefly about uh the major league baseball, and we didn't know what the whole gay pride thing was and what the argument was. So we did some research. Found out they want to put the logo on the hat. And then some of the uh San Diego projects said, No, I'm not doing that, I'm not wearing that. They're like, Why? Because they said, Well, I'm not gay, and I it is what it is, and then they go, Okay, we're gonna put a Bible verse on it. And they go, You can't do that, we're gonna find you. And the guy goes, Well, yeah, this or this, which one? And so the whole thing is just crazy. So people are arguing over that. I see the argument, I understand. And uh the the whole thing at the bottom is like they they said this basically. Why are you pushing it on people?

SPEAKER_02

Right.

SPEAKER_00

Like, why are you pushing it? I get that too. Why are you pushing? I don't understand. So, you know, we're all on the same team. You don't have to. I don't know. What do you think, Mike?

SPEAKER_01

Well, I think you, you know, give people the option of whether they want to do it or not. And if you don't do it, it doesn't necessarily mean you're anti-gay or anti-trans or anything.

SPEAKER_00

Not at all. I don't think anybody's thinking that.

SPEAKER_01

Um, but but well, no, that's not true. A lot of people do think that. They'll they'll automatically jump on that and say, well, if you're not wearing it, that means you're anti. And that's not really the case, right?

SPEAKER_00

Well, see, that's see that when I say that, right. I don't see that, neither do you. So that doesn't go to the forefront for me. Like I don't, oh, you're not gonna wear the gay uh pride flag all of a sudden you're homophobic. No, I don't think that way. So, but I guess other people do. They're looking for looking for an argument. I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

Well, we talked about it. I mean, I think the same thing happen the same things happen in other sports, right? It's happened in in hockey. I remember they made they said the same thing. Guy says, I don't want to do it, and everybody they started calling for him to be suspended and all this.

SPEAKER_00

Well, whatever happened to the basketball guy, remember when what's his name there said uh not uh celebrating the gay pride and then uh I don't know which one he just said something happened, then another guy said, I'm with him, and then just went away. Oh, the guy that got let go. Yeah, but I can't remember his name.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, the guy from Detroit there, yeah. Right, right. I don't know what happened to him. I'm assuming he's well, I'm assuming he's not in the league. He's yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Who knows? Probably end up playing for the Lakers next year.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, well, you never know. That's still yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Ah, well, Memphis will grab him. Memphis will pick him up, Mike. Maybe

Austin Reaves Payday And Cap Talk

SPEAKER_00

all right. So I'll I'll tell you who did pick up. Austin Reeves picked up a couple of a couple of bucks, Mike.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah?

SPEAKER_00

Here's the thing, people don't realize this. He was an undrafted player, ladies and gentlemen. Four years, 185 million.

SPEAKER_01

That's the highest contract ever for the player.

SPEAKER_00

Highest ever for an undrafted player. Yeah, and I where'd you go to school? It's you know what?

SPEAKER_01

It's it just shows you that you know offense is definitely valued over other things, right? Because hey, Austin's good. I'm not taking anything defense.

SPEAKER_00

No, right? Or or go play with LeBron James and learn how he does it and then copy him and look what happens.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So yeah, there's no right, there's no right.

SPEAKER_01

But we've talked about it. It's interesting because now it's like, well, you got Luke on a max, and now you've maxed out uh almost. Well, they gave him what the max that they could, right?

SPEAKER_00

Well, they could have gone five years, right?

SPEAKER_01

Oh, maybe, I guess.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, they could have gave him five years and more.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, okay. I didn't know that. Yeah. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

They only gave him four. It's not that good.

SPEAKER_01

I know you know what the the the way that the yeah the agreements are written now, like in the way everything works now. I don't I don't fully understand it anymore. Same with like, you know, I think uh, you know, holding somebody's bird rights as well, right? Like, meaning you can offer them a certain amount. But anyway, it all still at the end of the day, everything still counts towards the cap, right? And that's what you gotta watch for.

SPEAKER_00

Yep, yep. But uh, we knew Austin was gonna get as much. Apparently, Detroit was looking at them. Yeah, Detroit really wanted them. I think the Lakers had an original offer.

SPEAKER_01

Right, a little lower. And then they got wind, yeah, it was lower, and then they got wind. The Pistons were making a we're gonna make a better offer, and so they they upped their offer, I think.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, you gotta keep them. You gotta keep them. Uh so let's go keep it.

SPEAKER_01

Luca wants a Luca wants a center, man. That's everything I'm hearing. That's that that you said he wants a center.

SPEAKER_00

Well, so who did we get? Well, we've got Cameron Carmike, three and D. Uh, the weird part about him, if you don't know, he's 6'4, but his wingspan's seven feet.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, which is we can see how uh much of a problem that causes. Because people are gonna think they can throw the ball and they can't. So he's gonna end up getting a lot of steals, right? That's my goal on that. So where's he from again? Baylor. Baylor. So nobody even knows who he is, but yeah, good on him. Uh who else did we get for Lakers? Uh oh, they call it Cream Abdul Jabbar, this big white dude. You see this guy?

SPEAKER_01

Uh, I saw yeah, they signed him. Yeah, he's undrafted, right?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So I don't know what he's gonna do. Carry the towels.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I think that doesn't mean yeah, they signed him to a two-way contract. Is that usually what it is these days? Yeah, something like these guys, too.

SPEAKER_00

Well, that's what Austin Reese was, right? He was a two-way, wasn't he, at one point, you know. All right, so here's the draft, ladies and gentlemen, if you haven't seen it.

NBA Draft Names And Draft History

SPEAKER_00

So, uh, I hope I'm saying these names right, Mike. AJ DeBonsa. Did I say it right? I don't know. AJ DeBonsa.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know how to say his last name.

SPEAKER_00

Uh he led the nation in scoring. He's from BYU. He went to the Wizards, so him and Trey Young are gonna play in the backcourt, I guess.

SPEAKER_01

And Anthony Davis, if uh if he's playing. Oh shit, Anthony Davis. Right.

SPEAKER_00

If he's not injured. Yep. By the way, uh DeBonsa's 6'9. He's a big dude.

SPEAKER_01

Yep. Uh there was no, it was a no-brainer number one, I guess. But again, I don't think this draft class was as as as high profile as some of the recent ones, right?

SPEAKER_00

Well, yeah, I mean, okay, so here's another thing. Darren Peterson uh went to the Utah Jazz. He's from Kansas, of course, uh, playmaker. But uh he's got a big problem with cramping.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Well, here's the thing solve it! It's a muscle thing. You take some electrolyte, get your potassium, magnesium, zinc, K2 figured out. Well, how can these chemists not figure that out? He's he only plays half a game.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but you know, underlying conditions, right? Who knows? I don't know. I watched something, I was watching some video the other day, and it was talking about the you know, between the year 2000 and 2010, it was the number one picket, you know, and then like the best player that actually came out of that draft, right? And they talked about that. And I think there was only one, maybe two years where the number one pick like turned out to be the best. Was the number one pick? Like, well, it turned out to be the best player in that draft, yeah. Of course, LeBron. I can't remember who I can't remember who went after LeBron. Anyway, uh but then they but you're talking about that where these guys come in and they have injury injury uh reports, but they just get ignored. And you look at uh Greg Odin. Who went number one to Portland? Didn't even play, what did he play, like maybe a hundred games total in his career? You know, uh and KD went number two, right? And look at KD. Yeah, automatic ones. You know, probably the most lethal scorer is, right?

SPEAKER_00

Like yeah, yeah. Well, who's the other one there? Uh jumping Jack Spratt, uh, it's gonna be the next LeBron fat boy. Oh, Zion. Zion's missed more games than he played right.

SPEAKER_01

Well, that's that that LeBron year, the other thing you gotta remember is do you remember the guy who went number two?

SPEAKER_00

To LeBron?

SPEAKER_01

So LeBron went one at number one to Cleveland. Number two went to Detroit, number three it was Carmelo Anthony, went to went to Denver. Number four was Chris Boss to Toronto, number five was D. Wade to Miami. Do you remember who number two was?

SPEAKER_00

Waika. What's his name?

SPEAKER_01

Darko Milichich. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Couldn't think of his name.

SPEAKER_01

Right? And it was like again, it was one of those things. Apparently, at that time, teen a 17, 18-year-old kid from Europe, like worked out for the teams, and everybody was like really high on him. Sometimes trying to follow, going, man, he's the next Dirk, right? Yeah, they tried. Everybody was looking for the next great international player. Because remember, the Raptors took uh Bognani, Bognani. What is that?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you say Bagnani. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Like, you know, tried with a high pick, and he didn't, you know, he was an okay player, but he never turned out to be uh somebody you'd want to, you know, pick that high in a draft, I guess. But yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Well, okay, so Darren Peterson, number two to Utah, wherever the hell Utah has. Uh here's the one that baffled me, though. Uh Cameron Boozer, we know he's a Duke boy, right? Uh he was player of the year, and he went third. So uh where did he go again? Um Grizzlies, right? Yeah. And he's uh his average is pretty good, 22 and 10. Hey, buddy. Hey girl. And then, of course, the uh our North Carolina boy, Caleb Wilson, seven-foot wingspan. He's 6'9, he went to the Bulls, so he's gonna do wonders there. So good on him.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Now, honorable mention, I thought this was funny. I told you this one. So the Spurs went and bought themselves a Wimby killer named Adamara, seven foot three from Spain. The Thunder, you mean? All right, sorry, yeah, what did I say? You said the Spurs, yeah. Uh yeah, yeah, yeah. Thunder. So the Thunder went and bought a uh Wimby killer. So we'll see what happens.

SPEAKER_03

A Wimby killer.

SPEAKER_00

Wimby stopper, yeah. A Wimby stopper, whimby killer. Well, you gotta do something. Yeah, everybody got to figure shit out now.

SPEAKER_01

Well, well, they realize after last year Chet's not the answer.

SPEAKER_00

Who?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I saw Chet's. You know what?

SPEAKER_01

Hopefully, Chet uses this as motivation and comes back bulkier and better next year, right?

SPEAKER_00

Bulkier wouldn't take much. Uh yeah. So, okay, here's the

LaMelo Trade And Team Fit

SPEAKER_00

other one. All right. So LaMelo Ball went to where? Are you kidding me? To the Timber Bulls? Yes. He's gonna play alongside Anthony. Anthony Edwards backcourt.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I you know what I don't like that trade.

SPEAKER_00

The only thing I can think of is it like just so Anthony Edwards doesn't get double teamed now because you got Chucker Mello. It is, but on the outside.

SPEAKER_01

But he's uh but mellow as good as Mello is, he's also, you know, hopefully, I mean he's young, I guess, right? But he's he's also a momentum killer because he'll sometimes sometimes you'll you know they'll be on a run and all of a sudden he'll do like a fadeaway one leg of three-pointer. It's like, come on, man.

SPEAKER_00

Like he doesn't his shot selection.

SPEAKER_01

His shot selection is horrible. And so he is definitely a momentum killer. But yes, that's exactly what they got him for. The way every team was like, okay, well, just double team Anthony Edwards and let the rest of them beat us, right? Right. And try to get the ball out of Anthony Edwards' hands. Um, but you know, look what they gave. They gave they they traded away Julius Randle, which even Julius wasn't a great fit in Minnesota, but then they gave up Naz Reed as well, and they gave up a shitload of picks.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my god, so many to like 2033 or something.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, like an unprotected first round pick, which is, you know, Minnesota's banking on the fact that they're gonna be near the top every year, so they're never they're not giving up a lottery pick there, right? But they're they're taking their chances. Uh, and then yeah, then like uh like three future first round swaps or something like that, and then a bunch of like a few like second-round picks. I don't know what they were thinking. It's not like yeah, anyway.

SPEAKER_00

Well, we'll see how it pans out. Those guys are probably getting moved all over the place anyway.

SPEAKER_01

So Charlotte's got uh you know a good young team, but obviously they were willing to move on from LaMelo tells you enough as well, right?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, they had it. Well, listen, he's uh he's an outdoor uh court player. Like that's how he plays. It's like he's playing with his three buddies outside, like like nothing matters.

SPEAKER_01

And I saw his dad's already out there saying that uh Charlotte should pick up uh the other two balls. And they're even in the league. Uh well, Lonzo is when he's not injured, he plays. Lonzo, like remember, Lonzo was a great player. If he never got injured, he was like, I shouldn't say a great player. He was a really good defensive player, and he was like actually a really good, well-all-around player. He was never gonna be like an offensive firehouse uh powerhouse or whatever, but he was a good player, man.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I mean, it is what it is. So now here's the

LeBron Rumors And Jokic Watch

SPEAKER_00

thing. So, you know, I I I I watch all the stupid oh, LeBron's going to Detroit, LeBron's going to the Warriors, LeBron's. Oh, LeBron's gonna go with the heat to hang out with Jan.

SPEAKER_01

Well, you know why they're talking about the heat all of a sudden is because Riley had said, hey, if LeBron comes to me and says you want to come back, he goes, I'd roll out the red carpet for him. So yeah. And uh and Rich Paul on a podcast recently said, Who wouldn't want to go to Miami for a for a veteran veterans minimum or whatever, right? Like, yeah, so that so those are the things that are fueling the Miami thing. But I don't know if it's just deploy to try and put some pressure on the Lakers. Who knows, right?

SPEAKER_00

Because well, he's gotta tell them by Tuesday.

SPEAKER_01

I'm assuming it's not the Lakers. I'm assuming it's LeBron that's holding this up. It's not the Lakers. They've probably told him, here's what we're willing to offer. And he's like, let me think about it, right? I gotta decide if I want to take less money.

SPEAKER_00

I don't think he takes less money. I think they give him it to him. I think they give it to him.

SPEAKER_01

You think they give him 50 million?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, they can't let him walk. Who are you gonna get to replace him? You can't replace him. Well, that's a chance.

SPEAKER_01

No.

SPEAKER_00

I don't care how it doesn't matter how old he is. A 60-year-old LeBron is still better 75% of the league. He is, right? You know, so you can't replace him. That's what I'm sure what they're looking at going, well, if we let him go, who are we getting to fill that position?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, as uh My biggest thing with them is that yeah, you're building around Luca and and and Austin. Guess who stayed healthier than those two last year?

SPEAKER_00

LeBron.

SPEAKER_01

Right? Isn't that crazy? Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and like I said, we don't know how bad Luca's hamstring is, but thank God they didn't make it into the series and tried to put him in there. Yeah, I know, right?

SPEAKER_01

You know, so I know hopefully he's spent his offseason.

SPEAKER_00

I hope so, but he did say he wasn't playing for uh Serbia because he wants to spend time with his daughters.

SPEAKER_01

So yeah, remember he had all like he got traded, all the talk about how what a defensive liability he was, how he wasn't like didn't take staying in shape seriously, came back last year in a much better shape. I'm interested to see if he's gonna do it again this year. I saw a clip by the pylon, still a pylon. Uh, because I saw it quickly, and I was like, oh, I gotta go look that back up and see if this is real, and I completely forgot the butt, but of Jokic um looking like he's in much better shape. So I think you know, he's had a couple years in a row now where they haven't even gotten out of the first round. He's probably like, okay.

SPEAKER_00

I forgot about this. I just read about this. Jokic is not signing his uh he's got one more year and he's he's not signing.

SPEAKER_01

He's not opting out and signing the new extension.

SPEAKER_00

No, he's not. And then I saw this Jokic and they go like that, Lakers jersey. I'm like, wow, you can't afford him.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, how they can afford him.

SPEAKER_00

I know, right? But you'd have to get rid of you have to get rid of LeBron.

SPEAKER_01

Well, you what you have to do is you go, well, guy, yeah, you have to get rid of LeBron.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Uh, but then you do the same thing that you always do, you max out, and then you gotta find a bunch of people that want to come play. And a lot of people probably want to go play in LA for but you're you're playing for less money, right?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Yeah. Well, speaking of people wanting to play somewhere, Yannis' brother's got the shaft in there.

SPEAKER_01

Well, his yeah, I told you his contract expires in two days, and then they're not gonna resign him.

SPEAKER_00

No, I told you the memes are hilarious. Like hanging out of the airplane as he goes to my head. So those two brothers are gonna have to go back. Were they from Greece? Yeah, they're gonna have to go back to Greece and work in the family business now, making bread or whatever it was.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, they'll go play, they'll go back and play European basketball.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, or somewhere in China and play with uh Dwight Howard and whatever. Yeah, that's right. Yeah, whatever. They'll find a place, which is yeah, everybody knew. What a joke. What a joke. Um Lomello. Listen, bro.

Strait Of Hormuz And Gas Prices

SPEAKER_00

I read that the Strait of Hormones, hor uh Hormuz, hor horse? What is it? Hormuz. The Strait of Hormuz is open, and the next day gas went up. It's I thought they made the deal.

unknown

Right?

SPEAKER_01

Dude, are you not paying attention?

SPEAKER_00

And then I just read that.

SPEAKER_01

So what I just bombing place, bombing their allies.

SPEAKER_00

I I thought I saw that I who is the country again? Iraq. Wanted 25%. Iran? Whatever the country is.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, no, there's the where the where they're bombing right now. It's Iran, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, okay. The Strait of Mars. So they they wanted like 25% of the tolls, and it was like worked out to like some billions of dollars. Like to go, you know, to allow them to go through, like whatever how much? And they go, nope. Like, okay. So what happened?

SPEAKER_01

Well, that's just it. Like the Iran has said, okay, we'll open the strait, but we want to control the strait. And Americans are like, well, no, you don't get to control the straight.

SPEAKER_00

So is it now called the Strait of America?

SPEAKER_01

No, not yet. They're trying to, I think. But anyway. So that's what it was. So I think one of these tankers was going through, and one of the lanes that wasn't that Iran said wasn't, you know. Uh wait, they bombed a tanker? They yeah, sent some drones at a tanker, yeah. That's what they've been doing. That's how that's how they're trying. That's how they're that's why the whole strait got shut down, because they're like, you know, they they said they were mining the strait, they're having to send in drones at the the tankers, yeah. So it's kind of crazy, right? Anyway.

SPEAKER_00

Solve the problem, Donnie. What are we doing?

SPEAKER_01

No, it's not gonna get it's not going away.

SPEAKER_00

It's gross with a capital G E.

Cheap Humanoid Robots And Kung Fu

SPEAKER_00

Oh, well, I saw this. This is terrifying. The company Unitree, Mike, just launched a robot. Uh it's base salary, or salary. Oh, great, let's pay the robots too. Uh the base model is 4,900 USD, weighs 55 pounds. Now! You know what it can do? I'll read it to you, Mike. Okay. Because you're gonna need one of these. It can do cartwheels, it can run, it can dance. And here's the other one, Mike. Kung Fu.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, so I was good until I read the kung fu shit, and then I'm like, hey robot, make me a sandwich. Fuck you, like, wait a minute. Like all, here's the thing though, like, you know, we're martial arts guys, we talk about all the time. Who the fuck decided kung fu? Well, wait a minute, maybe maybe it was the Chinese mate, I'm not sure. But who decided kung fu was the martial art of choice? Yeah, like luckily he didn't pick fucking jujitsu or fucking Muay Thai or something. Like, are you kidding me? So this robot can just, you know, hey, robot, make me a sandwich. No. Like, what the fuck? Why was it doing cartwheels for?

SPEAKER_01

But don't, but don't forget that, like, for for people that don't know any better, every martial art is kung fu. Oh, is it? Yeah. Yeah, I guess. Yeah. Right, right. You remember uh a kung fu movie, a kung fu movie, a kung fucking movie.

SPEAKER_00

All the all the Chinese movies are kung fu. That's right, sure.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

David Carrie. That's right. Nah, younger topper.

SPEAKER_01

So, yeah. So they so anyway, but still, it's like I'm not saying that the robot knows jujitsu or anything else. I'm just saying that uh, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, but all this all I picture, I just keep going back to iRobot and that fucking like you know. Yeah. All you need is like one dude, Julian Assange, who's gonna just program so shouldn't. What? It's over, man. Like, you know, I don't know. Like I think we should go back and get like 1980 cars so they can't take our cars over. Yeah, right? It's uh 78 Chevelle. No Bluetooth. I don't know, man. I was when I read that I went, kung fu. Like, I don't know. Well, listen, I the that company has nothing to do with our friend Elon there. So Elon better step it up because he wanted to have the first robots out first.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Right. So um I did see this robot though. It was on the Sean Ryan show, and Sean Ryan was super impressed. Okay, yeah. So also Sean Ryan was like trying to throw it to the ground and he couldn't.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_00

He's like pushing, he's like, motherfucker. He's shoving it, and robots are like, mm-mm. Like, hey, it's Matumbo. Yeah, right. It's pretty crazy. Well, here's what I'm thinking. You know how you like, you know, you go to all the combine stuff, and the boys get the pads and are pushing on the players. Hey, program the robots to do your job, right? True. But it knows Kung Fu, so we could be in trouble. Right? Um, that pretty much covers everything. Do you have anything you want to add before I go on to the little piece there?

SPEAKER_01

No, not really. No, I think we talked about the basketball, talked about the the recent uh the rumors, the the trades, the draft.

NBA Coaching Deals And Job Security

SPEAKER_00

No, there's a couple of head coaches been swapped around, right?

SPEAKER_01

So that is one thing, and I don't know enough about this story either, but I saw I just saw them starting to talk about it. I have to go look up what the deal is. But apparently Portland hired a new coach, but the deal that they gave apparently is really Oh, the one year. One year with like all kinds of caveats built into it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, because Buddy doesn't really want to coach, apparently. I looked into it.

SPEAKER_01

Uh sounds like the guy that the owner is kind of like uh is a bit different, thinks differently, right? Is how he runs his runs his c runs his company.

SPEAKER_00

What I was sorry, what I read, and it was just brief, I read that the the guy who they're picking said he's not too sure, I'll just take the one year and see how it goes.

SPEAKER_01

Uh okay, that's not what I read at all about.

SPEAKER_00

Well, we don't see this is the problem, we don't fucking know what's real anymore.

SPEAKER_01

No, what I read was that was that this is what the this was the offer they made him. It's the first time head coach, so he took it.

SPEAKER_00

Uh because nobody gets a one-year deal.

SPEAKER_01

So it's a one-year deal. That's what I mean. Apparently, like a lot, like a lot of people.

SPEAKER_00

In six games you get paid.

SPEAKER_01

Coaches have other coaches have come out and said it's it's disrespectful what they've offered this guy, right? Okay. Of course he's like, hey man, my first offer, first head coach.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, he's from like nowhere, like a D3 school or something.

SPEAKER_01

Uh no, I thought he was an assistant coach somewhere, but uh anyway, does it whatever. Yeah, he's first time, first time uh you know, a chance to be a head coach in the NBA, you gotta go prove yourself.

SPEAKER_00

But well, there's not that many of them. You gotta take the job. Right? Yeah, and listen, everybody talk to Doc Rivers. Sorry, Doc. Everybody knows what happens at the NBA. Y'all get fired and y'all get a job again. It's like, and actually, that that goes for just about every giant sports in the world, right? You get fired, you go work somewhere else. You get fired, you go work somewhere else.

SPEAKER_01

So I mean some, right? Some will they'll take some from college, they'll go to the pros, and it doesn't translate to the pros, and they go back to the college. I saw Mike Malone's uh the new head coach down at uh North Carolina, right?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah,

Where Stars Might Land Next

SPEAKER_00

yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

They did Denver did him real dirty, remember?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. I mean Yeah. Well, so that's why you could just he never he never forgot he's leaving, he's going to going to LA.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I mean, he'll if he decides not to opt in, I mean he can pretty much go wherever the hell he wants.

SPEAKER_00

Dude, think of the guys right now trying to figure out how much money they got to do.

SPEAKER_01

Well, every team is like if he's if he's opted out, yeah, every team is sitting here going, or not opted out, sorry, has chosen to like ride out the next year and will just become an unrestricted free agent next year, uh, which means that you know Denver could get nothing in return for him.

SPEAKER_00

Nothing. That's right. Um he got those two brothers that are gonna make sure that didn't happen.

SPEAKER_01

Well, that's in it. So like every single team could be sitting there going, okay, we're playing the the Yokic sweepstakes. So what do we what are we gonna do? What do you need? How do we what trades do we gotta make? Where do we clear the caps based?

SPEAKER_00

Somebody's giving up their firstborn child, one of their daughters, yeah, yeah, dog.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, like I don't think Yokage is looking at it going, I need to go to a market where I can uh capitalize on my uh you know my name, right? Like I don't think so, right? I don't think he's like, hey, let me go to Los Angeles so I can be in commercials and movies and stuff like that, right?

SPEAKER_00

No, yeah, his brothers might get some movie time. Yeah, that's true. Commercials. There's always yeah, there's always other things. That's right. Taylor Sheridan put the boys in something. So yeah, look out on him. So let's see what happens to him. But yeah, LeBron's got to tell us by Tuesday.

SPEAKER_01

Well, the ones, what have I heard so far? Well, we've heard Miami. We've heard staying in LA with going to Miami.

SPEAKER_00

I didn't even think Miami.

SPEAKER_01

Well, that I told you that that just came up with the recent just recently.

SPEAKER_00

Because I figure I look my my thing is with LeBron trying to read his mind, which you can't. No, you can't even read. But sorry, LeBron, but hey man, page two of Malcolm X's book. Prove it. Anyway, I I I've like in my head, I'm like, been there done that, Cleveland, been there done that heat. Why would you go back? Is he is it easier to come out of the east? Uh well because that's how he thinks, sort of, right? What's in easier?

SPEAKER_01

New York just won. So again, right? Who was he gonna coming out of the east? It's not a not a given. Uh I don't know, man. And I mean the the the Cleveland story makes sense if it's like if he has if he's done and he decides he wants to go finish his career back in Cleveland, right?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, but here's the thing. Like when he says stuff like this, I need to be I need to be near my wife, my wife's not going back to Cleveland. And she's got her own shit going on in LA. Yeah. Right? Brian's like, I ain't going to Cleveland. Akron, fuck you. Yeah. Right? Like, come on. Yeah, I'm not sure. So I'm I I just listen, Brian No, that's why staying in LA makes the most sense, right? They said that they have his money. They have it. It's just that it's not even gonna touch. I told you. Like Brian Morgan was explaining it, and he goes, like this. Brian is trying to explain it to the panel. He goes, Trust me, it doesn't touch the cap. He goes, I can't explain it. I'm just telling you it won't touch it. They have his money.

SPEAKER_02

Right.

SPEAKER_00

And they're all like, okay, he goes, it's NBA, trust me. He kept saying that. And he goes, I can't get into it. It's there.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So they go, he has the money, and you just gotta say, this guy's driving back and forth, lost his.

SPEAKER_01

Well, they say that, but I mean, look at look at the Kawhi thing. Same thing, right? Well, the only thing. They might have his money, but they're gonna go after you, right?

SPEAKER_00

He he's looking at Toronto. Toronto's interested. Gonna go back to Toronto.

SPEAKER_01

He's already made it clear he didn't want to play in Toronto. Why would Toronto do that? What are they gonna rent them for another year again?

SPEAKER_00

Well, that's what I'm thinking. Yeah, rent them for one year and see what you can do.

SPEAKER_01

That'd be stupid on Toronto's part. Because in order to get them, they'd have to give up. They'd have to give something up, right? Yeah. Yeah, I know. I just mean that red car just went back the other way again. Oh, yeah, the kids are all out in their four-wheelers, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, why not, right? But yeah, I mean, Kawhi, what's he gonna do? I don't know. He's probably waiting to see if he's going to jail.

SPEAKER_01

He'll play 40 games again.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, maybe.

SPEAKER_01

Maybe. He'll go somewhere sign for 50 million dollars.

SPEAKER_00

Dude, I just read that uh Paul Pierce trade. I forgot how bad that was. Tim Brooklyn. Yeah. Yeah. Like gross. Yeah. Some people are so stupid. Like, holy cow, why who is it?

SPEAKER_01

Oh, there's one we haven't talked about is Jalen Brown. Oh, alright. And the Celtics. Because Jalen Brown was like the he was the main centerpiece with the Milwaukee Bucks for that trade, and it never happened. Never happened. But Boston made it clear we're ready to move on from Jalen Brown. And so now it's like So now he's mad, right? Well, of course he wouldn't. Yeah, why wouldn't you? Okay, like you keep including me and all these trade packages. What else am I supposed to do? I was the finals MVP. You're you know, Jason Tatum went down last year. I still led us to the you know, led the team. We ended up number two in the East. Like, what else do you want from me? Like, so disrespectful, right?

SPEAKER_00

Why don't they like him? I guess.

SPEAKER_01

Well, there's obviously there's something going on behind the scenes, right? Something. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But isn't isn't he like uh isn't he like uh not a Kawhi Leonard, uh Kyrie Irving? Isn't he kind of weird like that?

SPEAKER_01

Uh well I don't no uh no, I don't think he has any weird conspiracy theories. I think he's you think he's just outspoken.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, okay. Yeah, he's he, you know, uh I think he's like he's called out the media multiple times on like you know, you keep saying you have your sources to say this to say that. Give me your source.

SPEAKER_00

Give me your source, right?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's your ex-wife. What? And that's just it. Like we've talked about this. It's every story right now that you're getting from about LeBron James, nobody knows. You know why? Because it's gotta come from his mouth. Like, that's just it. Nobody knows, right? It's all these people that know you know how the business side works, and so then they're putting, you know, they're they're putting on their LeBron hat and saying, well, this is what LeBron's gonna do, but nobody knows.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, listen, uh, you know, we'll end it on this. If he was really going somewhere, there'd be a real estate agent somewhere that's saying, hey, LeBron just met with me looking at a house just outside Akron for 48 million dollars. Or, oh, who was the other one that said he's not going to Detroit? Was it Kawai too? Yeah, of course you're not going to Detroit. Detroit's not even.

SPEAKER_01

Well, LeBron's got to know trade clause, right? So they can't, they it has to be a LeBron approved trade.

SPEAKER_00

So that's why he already knows. Yeah, he knows what he's doing. That's why I can't stand it. He's just making us wait.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

You know, and you better not come up with another stupid commercial.

SPEAKER_01

So, like if they just that's what I mean. Like if they decide to do a sign and trade, it's got to be to a place that LeBron's gonna want to go to. It's not just gonna be like, hey, we're gonna do a sign and trade, we're shipping you to Detroit, we're getting whatever the name, Durham.

SPEAKER_00

Listen, if they ship him anywhere, he's gonna go east. They're not gonna put him against another fucking Western Conference team. You're not that dumb, right? So you know, but so maybe the heat, that'd be crazy, bro.

SPEAKER_01

You know, and maybe and then they're still they still you still keep hearing Golden State floated out there, right?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, he's not gonna let them play against them. Not gonna let them play against them.

SPEAKER_01

Have him what just I mean again, what so what are the again, what is Golden State gonna do? Because like they've got Butler, uh Draymond, and and and Stefal under contract.

SPEAKER_00

Well, they just said they re-signed Porzingas as well. They're working out with him, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so we'll see.

SPEAKER_00

Who knows, man? All right, so uh here's a weird
